Paella for supper?

Quick question about seafood which I hope someone can help me with.
I know that I should not be eating any raw fish or seafood, but if it is propertly cooked through is it OK?

The reason I ask is that I want to make Paella for supper tonight (I have a bag of frozen seafood in the freezer consisting of squid, prawns and mussels).

Is this going to cause any harm? I never get ill on seafood normally.

I don't know about the squid, but I was told no shellfish, cooked or otherwise. That included cooked prawns and mussels.

The Food Standards Agency says properly cooked, hot shellfish is fine to eat in pregnancy. I think the problem is not that shellfish in itself is bad, but that they're the kind of foods that can have bacteria in them, more than say bread or whatever. Some stomach bugs can cause problems for baby (and of course it's horrible being ill in pregnancy) but it's quite rare.

Yes, it's fine.

shellfish is fine as long as it's cooked through - i have had prawns in curries etc with no problems. Would have thought the same would go for the squid - just make sure you cook it and it's hot through.

Daisystone - I made the most delicious prawn dish on Friday. Dh said it was the best ever. I wimped out of eating any as it smelt too 'prawny'.

The rational part of my brain tried to remind myself that my sense of smell is that of a bloodhound and that I've never been ill eating prawns in the past but no I missed out.

im sure its fine as long as its cooked through. I had marks's burgers filled with gorgonzola last night and just gave then an extra 5 mins in the oven to make sure the cheese was boiling hot. I dont think that there are many bugs that can survive being cooked

enjoy

The FSA guidelines say no raw shellfish. No mention of raw fish.
