Pregnancy fitness DVD recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a pregnancy fitness DVD? I'm just about seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with this sickness, and need to make up for the fact that I have eaten crap for the past two months.

Any worth the money?

I would definately recommend complete pregnancy fitness by erin o'connor. It is alot more of a workout than some of the others and you definately feel it the next day. It also comes with a post natal workout for after baby is born. I used this 2/3 times a week and did not get too bored of it. It also gives tips to up the workout if you want to or be less strenuous for when you gte further on.

I can't really recommend it because it is the only one I've seen, but I did Davina's from around 30 weeks or so. I quite enjoyed it but can't imagine that someone in the first trimester would find it challenging at all.

If you're already fit it might not be the one for you, but I found it to be great. I had SPD in my first pregnancy but didn't have it so bad in my second and I am convinced it is because I continued to be active.

Not exactly high-impact (!), but I have been doing Tara Lee's Pregnancy Health Yoga - it really works out all the aches and pains that seem to come along with being preggo. She also makes recommendations for things to do to help specific ailments (and which things you should avoid if suffering from SPD, etc).

The restorative practice is great if you're not feeling up to the challenge of a full practice. There's also a relaxation and a visualisation - lots to keep you busy!

I second the Erin O'Connor as you do feel your muscles get a good work out. I'm only in the first trimester though! It might get a bit much later on but I could switch to something gentler then.

I'm doing the Erin O'Brien prenatal one. It's pretty good - low impact and not too taxing, but keeps you moving and some of the exercises can be adapted so you can do harder versions if you want.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've put the Erin O'Brien one on my Love Film list.

I absolutely love the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) Pregnancy Pilates DVD; it makes me feel great, as well as stronger. Bought mine from Amazon, but APPI also have a website. Despite the name, they are based in the UK, and all the Pilates instructors are registered physiotherapists.

My physio said that some of the squats and lunges in the Erin O'Brien one are not recommended for pregnancy (I had the pre-natal fitness fix not the complete preg one) so just be careful.

EmmaBemma · 21/03/2010 18:59

I dunno which exercises your physio might mean, Walnut - there's only one lot of lunges - relatively gentle backwards ones - and two lots of squats, neither of which go beyond (or even near) 90 degrees.

Also, the DVD was produced in America - the most litigious country in the world, so I'm sure if there were any questions over its suitability for use in pregnancy, these would have long ago been chased up in the courts.
