For two nights I've barely slept as I've felt like I'm having a crap period. I ache so much, including my lower back and I've even got the loose stools I get at the time of the month. I went to the GP on Thursday as I've been so sick/ run down at work/ diarrhea/ headache and was in and out in under a mintute with the 'well it's all part and parcel of being pregnant' stock repsonse. I added to feeling crap by crying on the walk home after so neighbours probably thing I'm a loon. The back ache is becoming agony at times. Surely there's some sensible advice out there and a bit more understanding from some GPs? I mean check urine/ bp just in case? Advice positions/ warm baths..something. I get the feeling if my head fell off I'd be told it's normal!

You are absolutely right, your urine and blood pressure should be checked, your GP is missing basic checks by not doing these. Your symptoms can be due to a urinary tract infection for example.

Do you have a midwife you can phone?

MissusRabbit · 20/03/2010 08:35

I'd phone a mw too.....it's not part of normal pregnancy at all. You could have an infection or be in early labour with those symptoms so should be checked out!

Go with your gut instinct and don't get fobbed off. Even if they find out you;re ok and just need to rest for a bit and take some painkillers at least its something and can put your mind at rest.

get it checked out. I have experienced the same thing this week and turns out have a uti. On antibiotics and still feel dreadful although cramps have disappeared.
My gp sounds as crap as yours she didnt even check bpressure, only tested water because I went in armed with urine sample on advise from hospital!

I agree with the others, please speak to your midwife as you are not describing 'normal' pregnancy niggles. Midwives tend to have much more knowledge of pregnancy stuff (as you would hope!) than GP's so they should sort out what's happening - and they're available 24/7 - so do it now!

llareggub · 20/03/2010 22:08

Yes, I agree with the others: phone your midwife. To be honest I've never seen a GP during my pregnancy. I've always gone straight to the midwife when I've had anything vaguely pregnancy related!

Am totally shocked that GP didn't check urine and BP!

I went for routine ante-natal check and I'd been up all night with diarhoea - and my urine showed up infection that was send to hospital - GP said to come back next day if it persisted (luckily it didn't)
