My last baby was a 10lber so when i found out i was having twins this time, i thought at least they would be smaller and i wouldn't have to push out a 10lber again. I'm now 35 weeks gone and the twins are both bigger than average, weighing almost 6 and a half pounds each and i'm not allowed a c section for another 3 weeks. I just don't see how its possible to carry on carrying this weight for 3 weeks. Is there anyone out there who has and how did you cope?

My friend is a twin, she was 8lb and her brother 10lb! Eeek!

oh jesus! this isn't actually making me feel better like i thought it would - just terrified! Did these women go to 40 weeks with their twin pregnancies? Either way they're amazing, 18lbs plus waters etc is a shocking amount to have to carry. I confess i've had to get help these last few weeks too, otherwise my 3 year old would be entirely looked after by the telly!

At the end of my last pregnancy I was tempted to invent a special bump-supporting device. A bit like a zimmer frame, but low enough to go under the bump, with a nice comfy pad to rest your belly on. I would have been quite happy to trundle round the shops pushing that along in front of me.

My friend is a GP and she told me during her training she witnessed a CS with triplets where all three babies were OVER 7lbs!!!!

so 22lbs in total there and i just looked up octomum - she carried about 20lbs so there may be a limit but basically i'm nowhere near it yet! i'm just feeling very sorry for myself

piprabbit - i've imagined something similar myself but with a wheel at the bottom so i don't have to carry the weight. I have one of those support belts but its not as if the weight is being distributed to someone else - it's still me! so that's not really much help.

It's very selfish of me but i hope to go into labour earlier. I know, i know, i must think of the babies - the consultant has already seriously frowned at me for that.

Good god woman, what on earth are you doing here? Shouldn't you be doing some impossibly complicated double rugby ball BF manoeuvre?

Many, many congratulations Pixie and I love the girls' names.

Congratulations Pixie

OP, good luck. I've had twins. When i went into labour the mw did a fundal measurement - It was 54cm i think! Mine were "only" 5lb14oz and 6lb3oz.

i wish you all the best!

Wow. I'm seriously in awe of those who've carried twins. I'm 41+ weeks with one and will no longer moan about feeling uncomfortable.

All the best to NKfff... Accept all help you possibly can!

Thanks, i learnt some weeks back to accept all help offered and am thankful to have some lovely friends.

Thanks for the birth story Pixie (and you must share how you do that double feeding plus typing maneouvre!) My twins are both head down and i wish i had the will power as you did to let them come naturally but i'm not going a day more than i have to!
