Anyone developed a snoring habit?

Im 40weeks and 6days pregnant, and since around 40weeks i have developed a really bad snoring habit that keeps my DP awake.
Iv nearly really snored prior to pregnancy, its so strange that iv started now, anyone else developed one since pregnancy or anyone has any ideas as to why iv got one now?

I wake myself up snoring at the moment - its to do with the extra progesterone in your system, softening everything up ready for labour. It's made your soft palate a bit floppy.

I use Breatheright strips to keep my nasal passages open as much as possible, and my husband uses ear-plugs. (Yes, we look quite the couple). At your late stage, I wouldn't bother investing in them though. You'll soon have your little one and your snoring will have stopped. Good luck.

Oh ok thankyou, i never knew that, strange how much pregnancy and child birth affects so many different parts of a womans body!

Yep , I've started snoring every night in the last few weeks, but don't wake myself up. My very understanding DH uses earplugs. He doesn't mind but I do hope it'll stop once I've given birth.
I'm 38+4 and ready for this baby!!!
I can't comment on the drooling bit though

Don't know if it's because I'm still bf'ing but my son is 7 months and the pregnancy snore is still here.

tiggz · 18/03/2010 20:28

I'm only 25 weeks and already snoring -- never snored before in my life. It's given me the WORST sore throat; horrible.

LadyPeterWimsey · 23/03/2010 22:34

Worst snoring I have ever heard was the four times I was in hospital having the DCs. A ward full of post-natal women - there is no sound like it!

pinemartina · 23/03/2010 22:40

Morloth and tigz LOL -I have developed dry patches and zits around my mouth and chin from drooling and I cant even sleep more than an hour at a time.
Nice

Bondwife · 24/03/2010 10:46

OMG this is me snoring and drooling like crazy. My snoring was bad before pregnancy but is now apparently completely crazy according to DH who is in the Navy - apparently he would rather sleep in a 16 man mess after they have all been on the beer than with me at the moment as they are quieter

rochester · 24/03/2010 16:10

I am also only 25 weeks (beanlet) and have started snoring badly. My poor husband likes his sleep and has been known to give me a good hard jab to wake me up leaving me dissoriantated and embaressed . I don't think he means to do it as he is half asleep himself, I think I will treat him to some ear plugs at the moment he has to sleep with a pillow ever his head .
Let me know if the snoring ends for you after the birth tiggz
I suppose sleepless night are good training for us

amyboo · 24/03/2010 16:13

I'm 38+5 and have been snoring for the last couple of weeks too! So glad to know I'm not the only one. I never snored before in my life (except when I have a cold), so I was horrified to discover I now snore so loudly that I can wake myself up! I'm praying it goes away again once baby is born.

AtLongLast · 24/03/2010 19:32

Wow, of course! I'm 38+6 and have had the glorious drooling & snoring for weeks now but hadn't linked it with the sore throat!

mum2be81 · 24/03/2010 21:23

Iv'e had snoring/loud breathing for months now (I am 31 +5 weeks) and have also found that my mouth really dries out during the night which wakes me up. when i was about 20weeks i kept getting nose bleeds - could all this be related?

beanlet · 25/03/2010 11:36

DH and I are both snoring at the moment as he has a bad cold -- so we have taken to topping and tailing in the bed so that we can't hear each other quite so much

beanlet · 25/03/2010 11:37

Oh yes -- and I also get a really dry mouth too mum2b381. It was my husband who put the dry mouth and sore throat and new snoring together. . . think he's right too.

mum2be81 · 26/03/2010 10:53

Just tried out the nose strip things and they seemed to have really helped! opened up the nasal passages and allowed easier breathing. my be worth a shot!!!
