So I had reduced fetal movement 4 movements in 24hrs so off to the hospital this am at 7am...

Was monitored etc...baby was moving but as I've been having back and top of bump (Right side) I've got to go back for admoninal scan to check for gall stones anyone had any experience of this?

From what I can gather on google might explain the extended morning sickness and then nausea I've been feeling...

Just waiting for the hospital to call me back ref scan for gall stones wondered if anyone else had any experience? I'm 33 weeks today.

Thanks gemcgem I'm too far gone for them to operate now from what I've read up! Just waiting for a phone call fromthe hospital to go for scan! Have consultants appoint in 3 weeks anyway! I thought it was just acid intigestion especially with the sickness ( have had bad morning sickness whixk has only really eased off at 30 weeks) hence I didn't think anything of it!!!

i have had several gallstone attacks this pregnancy (currently 37w+5). There is nothing they can do to deal with it while you are pregnant. I was told to take paracetamol and eat a reduced fat diet. THe paracetamol does help but really all you can do is breath through the pain and wait for it pass. There is no danger to the baby.

My midwife told me that the pain of a gallstone attack is very similar to labour except higher (usually felt just under the right breast and around the upper back). I found this strangely reassuring. I know i can cope with gallstone pain so i feel better about impending labour.

I had gallstones while pregnant - although they weren't identified as such until after the birth when I had an ultrasound for a liver problem (also pregnancy related!). I had several episodes of horrendous pain, which was scary as I had no idea what was going on. I also had terrible nausea and vomiting through the whole pregnancy, which we put down to HG.

TheSugarPlumFairy's midwife is right - it is very similar pain. I found myself using some of the breathing exercises they taught at antenatal classes.

I had my first gallstone attack when I was 39 weeks pregnant. It was horrendous, but was not diagnosed. I then had attacks roughly once a month from when my DS was 3 months old til he was 3 years old!! I was diagnosed when he was 2, but I wanted to try and control it through diet, with some success, but ended up with pancreatitis in Oct, and had it removed in November. I realised I had too if I wanted another baby, and now I am pg again and have no fear of the attacks hanging over me.

I also think that labour second time round is going to be less of an ordeal given the number of gallbladder attacks I have survived!!

Gallstone attacks used to make me really sick, increasingly so as the attacks continued. I recovered really quickly from the op so don't worry about that. It's not a miracle cure, I still get stomach cramps I think from the continuous drip of bile into the intestines, but is better than having attacks. Good luck, at least they have thought of gallstones early - it wasn't until I moved house out of London and had another doctor that I was finally diagnosed!
