My bladder is a bit weaker lately but I've never done this!
I was dreaming and suddenly in my dream I was having a wee, I'm unsure if this made me do it, or if I could just feel (dare I say it) waters breaking so my dream converted that to me weeing??
I wasn't overly desperate for the toilet when I woke up, but I was totally wet (god so embarrasing).
Went to the bathroom and still couldnt tell what it was, saw no colour or smell.

I'm so confused.
My water never broke naturally with previous children so I don't know what to expect.

Is there anyway to know what it was? The hospital is so far away and it's quite impractical to go until friday, I have things to do, transportation and childcare issues, etc.
Nothing like this can happen until I'm 38 weeks, that's how I planned it!

My sister "wee'd herself" had a few "tummy aches" and three hours later was holding my nephew!!!!!! Call your sister and pack your bags

CMOTdibbler · 17/03/2010 10:48

Denial is a river in Egypt - I think this baby is planning on making an appearance soon.

Mind, I tried very hard to convince myself that my waters hadn't broken

AnnieBeansMum · 17/03/2010 10:49

Umm...it definitely sounds like you are in labour. Ring your sister and start getting things ready.

How exciting...

llareggub · 17/03/2010 10:52

Good grief, call your sister, call your midwife!

How exciting.

I'm quite sure I shall be checking back here all day now...

ThursdayNext · 17/03/2010 10:52

Ooh, exciting.
My first labour started at 37 weeks with waters breaking in the night, then contractions started a few hours later.
DS had his arm over his head and the midwife suggested that his arm may have caused the waters to break. Next labour didn't start in the same way.
All the best!

thedollshouse · 17/03/2010 10:57

Please get it checked out. I know amniotic fluid is supposed to have a distinct smell but mine didn't.

MmeLindt · 17/03/2010 11:11

LOL at the level of denial.

Missus, get your sister on the phone.

You are having a baby, and it does not give a toss if you are ready yet or not.

yetanothernickname · 17/03/2010 11:12

I just need to cook enough food for us for the next few days incase, so I've got that on.
It's probably still nothing.
My babies are always late..

We'll see......

This happened to me, I still couldn't tell but I was due for c section on the friday and this was the previous sunday but nothing happened. Didn't smell of wee always clear, had to wear a pad for a few days.

CMOTdibbler · 17/03/2010 11:26

This baby is not going to be late. Stop cooking and call your GP woman !

StepSideways · 17/03/2010 11:31

The midwife on one born every minute last night was talking about delivering a baby in the hospital car park, you want that to be you!

Make some calls!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/03/2010 11:53

I agree, I would def call your sister, just to let her know whats happening and then she can get prepared too. Will be watching this thread with interest!

Good luck x

BalloonSlayer · 17/03/2010 12:02

OOoh how exciting!

I was always told that amniotic fluid doesn't smell anything like wee but TBH when my waters went, it smelled a lot more like wee than it smelled like lemonade!

After all the baby has been piddling in it, haven't they?

My friend said that when her waters went they smelled exactly the same as her first baby had smelled when he was born!

Keep us posted, yetanothernickname

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/03/2010 14:16

Have we got any updates??

BettyButterknife · 17/03/2010 15:05

I don't know if you want to hear this, but I thought my waters had gone and my midwife crouched down, sniffed my knickers and said 'amniotic fluid smells like semen!'

Nice. Good luck, whether it's wee or waters!

BettyButterknife · 17/03/2010 15:35

Bit of a double-edged sword really, isn't it? If your waters haven't gone early, then you're incontinent. What joy.

Will keep you guessing, James!

Purplebuns · 17/03/2010 15:39

Mine smelt straw/hay type smell, and were a trickle. I think it was your waters to :D

blackcurrants · 17/03/2010 15:55

Ooh, do you think that she's having/had her baby? The fact that she hasn't been back for a while seems promising, doesn't it?

[far to excited and need to get a life emoticon]

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/03/2010 16:15

blackcurrants I think your prob right, or it really was wee and shes too shame faced to come back and tell us!

yetanothernickname · 17/03/2010 20:03

Well I had to pleasure of losing all dignity yet again to a doctor with a flashlight and an expanding spectrum. No leaking, no amneotic fluid on swab, waters 'probably haven't broken'.

I'm just incontinent, woo!

Trillian42 · 17/03/2010 20:22

So much better to have it checked out! It would have been on your mind trying to sleep tonight.

I'm off to do some pelvic floor exercises now

MmeLindt · 18/03/2010 07:40

Oh, dear. Still, it was better to have it checked out.

I had it the other way around. My gynae thought that my waters had broken, sent me to the hospital and they sent me home. Gynae was mystified, as she was positive that they had gone.

She did say that in rare cases, you can have a leak that reseals.

AKMD · 18/03/2010 10:18

Don't feel bad; I managed to have 3 days at 32 weeks when I couldn't stop weeing DH thought it was hilarious when I kept jumping up in the middle of the night shouting with frustration because I had wet the bed again At least you don't have that humiliation!

AKMD · 18/03/2010 10:19

P.S. If this keeps happening, buy some disposable changing mats to put under you at night time. Saves a lot of laundry time.
