Baby Hammocks

Hello Ladies,

not sure this is the best place to post this, but at a loss as to which board would be the best. Basically, i wanted to gather opinions on baby hammocks and people who have used them.
1/ Did you use them for night sleeping?
2 / If so, how did you find putting them in and out when they wake up for feeds?
3/ where did you position the hammock?

We have a Miyo, and need to site the hook in the ceiling fairly soon, and i'm not sure of the best position for the hammock. Also, i've heard they can be quite awkward for getting baby in and out, so i'm a little concerned about trying to do that whilst it's dark and i'm half asleep!

Any opinions and advice very gratefully received!

Thanks

I have an Amby. There is a knack to getting them into it without waking them, but once you've cracked it, then it's easy. DP is crap at it and invariably wakes her up
Getting her out isn't so much of a problem since she's usually awake anyway
We used the moses basket when she was very tiny and moved her into the Amby at about 10 weeks. It's at the side of the bed (my side). DP struggles a bit as he has a glass back and it's quite low down, but the height of it seems to be geared up so that I can see into the hammock from the bed. I love it, and she does sleep pretty well in it.

JetLi, can I ask why you waited so long before putting her in the hammock? Just wondering because I thought the idea was for the hammock to mimic the motions of being in the womb so presumably it would be ideal to use from birth?

I'm ordering the Miyo hammock shortly...

My DN won't sleep in the hammock. B and SIL have gone for a mix of co-sleeping and cot. Hammock is beautiful though!

Hi - when she was first born she rolled around too much in it and kept ending up with her face pressed against the fabric at the sides. We needed the newborn hugger but had to wait ages for it to come into stock. By which time she was used to the moses and sleeping pretty well in there. But yes, if we'd thought to buy the hugger before she was born she would have gone straight into the hammock.

Both dd and ds have slept in the hammock from birth (an Amby). They were both big sturdy babies though. I agree it can be a bit fiddly to get them in without waking them at first but you do get used to it. Ours is by my side of the bed

DS2 was great in his amby- from newborn. We had the newborn hugger bit. Really recommend it. Moved into cot about 6mths as he was wriggling too much.

1/ Did you use them for night sleeping? YES
2 / If so, how did you find putting them in and out when they wake up for feeds? NO PROBS BUT HARD ON THE BACK!
3/ where did you position the hammock?NEXT TO OUR BED

We had the AMBY and used it from 6 weeks till 12 months and DS was fine. We used a breathing monitor. I was thinkikng of selling mine but unsure if to due to the recall and the company closing. DS loved it.
