Brown CM at 7 weeks?

Hi all

Sorry for the TMI but I've started getting brown CM - I'm 7 weeks. I had pinky CM at the weekend which turned brown but has continued on and off every day since - sometimes only tiny amounts but it's still there.

I had a scan on Wednesday and all was well - saw the heartbeat and baby was in the right place etc and I didn't even bleed after having the transvaginal scan which I was pleased about. But it's still happening...

Is this normal and do any of you have an experience with this? It's my first pregnancy so it's all new to me, so need some help and reassurance if possible.

Thanks!

It can be normal, sometimes you get a bit of bleeding around the time your next af would have been due, and brown cm usually indicates old blood, maybe that was left over from the pinky cm you were having. When you had the scan, everything was ok, so I doubt its anything to worry about, but if I were you, i'd give the gp or midwife a ring and put your mind at rest properly, otherwise your only going to worry over the weekend. Good luck.

i had exactly the same and panicked like crazy. Am now 26 weeks, so it all turned out ok.

I had a scan, the same as you, at the EPU, and all looked good. My GP and midwife bothe explained that as the embryo continues to burrow into the womb, it effectively scratches the sides, and the discharge is a product of that. Some women see it, some don't. No one was at all worried, and they assured me it wase entirely normal.

It went on from week 6 to about week 8 i think. It always seemed worse if I was really active. Sometimes there was quite a lot and I was really alarmed, but it eventually stopped.

So take heart and relax. That said, I didn't care how much sensible advice i got at the time; i was terrified. If you are the same as me, go to the midwife and have yur mind put at rest

Thank you for your replies - you have helped to reassure me. Chestnut100 - that sounds like a good explaination of why it would happen.

I know that rationally it's not red, it's not much and it's not all the time but it's still freaky. And I keep running to the loo to check if you know what I mean!

I have a doctor's appointment next Thursday so will see what happens up until then. I haven't got a number for my midwife yet, but I know that at EPU they said could ring my odc, go to A&E or call them if it gets worse.

I'm goig to try and keep calm..

Hi piesey, just to say I have exactly the same thing and I am also trying not to worry about it (I'm coming up for 6 weeks, first time pg too). As with yours, mine's sporadic, and not red (thankfully). There's not usually that much of it, it's more like discoloured CM than spotting at the moment. I had a scan yesterday and spoke to the doctor and nurse about it, and both said not to worry unless it turns red or is accompanied by pain. So I'm just trying to put it out of my mind, because I'm tired of feeling panicky about it, if that makes sense!

Hi Pidgin - hope that it gets better for you too! It's reassuring to have a scan isn't it? I guess it's just one of those things. I hope that it stops soon but I know what you mean about being fed up of being panicky about it. FXd for us both!
