Pulled muscle in tummy and movements at 22 weeks

Hi,

Hopefully just after a bit of reassurance. I have felt movements (flutters) since 15 weeks and in last two weeks a vague pattern has started to develope (i.e 11pm at night when in bed is quite an active time). Also started to feel actual kicks too. Yesterday he was so active and was feeling movements ever hour and my bump felt like it had grown loads but nothing today, I think I may have felt a few flutters but cant be sure.

Also last night woke up at 5am and tried to turn over in bed and couldn't. Felt I had pulled a muscle in tummy. We have a memory foam bed so think my bump was stuck in that too. After a while I had to wake up DH and he lifted me up a bit and I was able to get out of bed. Tummy still feels a bit sore though.

I know some friends haven't felt any movement until about 22 weeks so it is quite early days in terms of a movement pattern. Also am not working at moment so it is not as it I am very busy during day at moment.

Hello, Im just over 21 weeks and like you get some sort of regular pattern, the other night about a week ago I woke up with quite bad pain in my bump, also felt like a pulled muscle and over the weekend just gone I felt barely any movements and was getting quite worried but then yesterday and today my little guy has been really active.

I think docs/mws aren't too concerned about irregular movement til after 25 weeks so I think what you are experiencing is quite normal.

Thank you, I do seem to remember my MW saying she would talk to me about movement at 25 weeks. Think I may invest in one of those sausage pillows today.

The muscle-pulling sensation is your round ligaments stretching. (The doctor who did my CS kindly severed one of mine so I won't have that feeling this time )

The long sausage pillows are fab. I love mine (Atm I am using it to keep my slightly sore boobs supported ) they are brilliant for shoving under the bump to stop it feeling heavy when you are sleeping on your side. I end up fighting with OH for the pillow sometimes, it is so nice. He says he has a right to it as he is pregnant too .

One thing I will say is that as pregancy went on I eventually got to the stage where nothing would roll me over in the night. I couldn't do it for love or money. The only way to shift positions was to sit up and then settle myself back down again. Gah! I seem to remember this went on for quite some time, too.

I would keep an eye on that 'pulled muscle' feeling - your stomach muscles start to separate, which is normal, but it can all go a bit far, which can be bad - have a look at the diastasis recti (sp?) thread.

I am now starting to use arms/legs etc and not stomach to pull myself into sitting, turn etc whenever possible. Sorry if over-alarmist but a good headsup.
