Had a gender scan yesterday at 18wks told it was a boy,had a very clear shot between the legs.Really excited now and want to start buying clothes and decorate the nursery, but a little worried in case they were wrong.Never found out with my first 2 so did everything in neutral

They can be wrong. However, if the sonographer seemed fairly sure, I'd get boy stuff.

I was told my 2nd DC was a girl, but the sonographer said that she was very unsure and not to buy any pink things. She did turn out to be a girl!

I should think that if the sonographer was unsure, he/she would probably have said so the chances are it will be right.

Go ahead and get boy stuff as long as you are prepared for the slim chance that a girl might appear.

They're usually right if they are saying a boy but more chance of being wrong when saying its a girl?

Due to the bits and pieces if they say boy its coz they've seen a hotdog rather than a hamburger iykwim!! but if they say girl sometimes the hotdog can be hiding!!
Hope that helps!

I have heard the same- a boy is fairly hard to miss, but the "girls" can turn out to be willy-hiders! We know two friends with boys that did this for their scans, but no-one the other way round. I'd feel fairly safe with your boy scan

Very occasionally they're wrong, but it if it seemed very clear to the sonographer I think you're fairly safe to go shopping! (I seem to recall hearing that very occasionally they mistake the umbilical cord for genitals but I don't suppose that happens at all often!)

AllieW some one has also said to me about sometimes mistaking the umbilical cord think it happened to her SIL.That's why i was wondering if it is that common.Thinking i may just go neutral just in case
