This is my 3rd pregnancy and yesterday i spend the whole day in A&E with chest pains. The doctor sais it could possibly be a blood clot and advised me to take Clexane injections every day until the baby is born. Im only 11 weeks so am worried its a long time to take this for.

Is or has anyone else taken this during pregnancy? Advice is very welcome
Thanks

there is another thread about this somewhere on here thta I commented on too. I am a staff nurse and regularly give clexane to pregnant women, it is considered very safe and standard practice to do so. I would not hesitate in having it myself if necessary. Hope that helps!

MummaHG -- definitely visit the thread ladey posted as it will calm your fears.

I have been on Clexane since week 8 of my pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder and all has been progressing very well. I have another month to go and baby has been growing right on target and is a real kicker!

If it calms your fears, I went to see four of London's top obstetrician's (while trying to choose the right doctor) and all confirmed that it was perfectly safe to take in pregnancy. It actually doesn't cross the placenta and really just serves to thin your blood and prevent clots from forming (the latter of which could compromise the placenta and your baby's blood supply).

The injections were a nuissance but you get used to them and now they are just a daily routine like brushing one's teeth. You may get a bit of bruising in the beginning and I found arnica cream to be very helpful.

I hope this makes you feel better. As Ladey said it is considered very safe and standard practice.

All the best....
