10 weeks is surely too early to feel movement?

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and few the past couple of days I have felt popping/flipping feelings in my uterus. Not sure it is my uterus just 'twinging' for whatever reason but it feels a bit like baby movement.

I first felt DD at 14 weeks, and remember distinctly it was during the relaxation part of a yoga class, but this I can just feel any time, and I was wondering if it was movement. The first time round I really didn't like the feeling of the baby moving, but have had a bit of bleeding this time round, so if this is movement I am just relived.

I am sure I felt this baby (DC2) move at 11 weeks - and when I posted a few others said the same. I guess we recognise it more from the first time, I am sure last time round I would have put it down to a wind bubble, but was a definite fluttering!
Enjoy it

AllieW · 02/03/2010 13:00

All the books say that second time Mums recognize movement a lot earlier, so I wouldn't be surprised. I'm hoping so, as I found it very reassuring this time and the wait for the first scan seems like an eternity.

AllieW · 02/03/2010 13:01

last time, I meant.

mosschops30 · 02/03/2010 13:03

yes it is too early, but there will be plenty of crazy's on here who'll tell you they felt movement from conception

FWIW i didnt feel dc3 until 19 weeks, so all that about it being earlier is not necessarily true.
Just try and relax. Could you have an early pegnancy scan if you are anxious about the well being of your baby?

muddler · 02/03/2010 14:03

Crazy? Nice one mosschops - pffff

ladyjadey · 02/03/2010 14:25

I felf DD at 17 weeks, and very def felt this one at 10 weeks. it was not wind, my imagination or anything else. I am now 15 and have been feeling movements increasingly every week since, however usually only when I am laying very still and quiet in bed. But that was the case with dd too.

Don't let anyone tell you its nonsense. It's your body, and if you know, you know.

xkatyx · 02/03/2010 18:06

Hi i felt my firt DC move about 16 week's , but my 2nd Dc i was convinced beofre my 12 week scan that i could feel the baby move, i even told the ultra scan lady i maybe further along as i have felt movement, she told me not to be silly im 12 week's it's not movement, she dug the scan thing in my tummy (as they do) really hard and felt a kick and she even was supprised. i also had BH from day 1 a tiny little patch used to go hard on my belly around the baby.

xkatyx · 02/03/2010 18:07

oh and i'm not crazy!!!!!

TulipsInTheRain · 02/03/2010 18:30

i felt my older two very early on... dd was faint flutters at 12 weeks and definite kicks that dp could feel at 14.

ds1 was faint at 10 but solid kicks at 12.

freaked me out no end with ds2 when i couldn't feel much at all by 13 weeks.... turned out the placenta was at the front

catbus · 02/03/2010 19:32

No, it doesn't always follow suit that with each pg you feel movement earlier BUT it is more likely; even my MW'S agree on this.
I am on #4 and know my body well enough to distinguish between wind and flutters. With DC3 I felt him loud and clear from 11 weeks;
I think people apparently find it hard that some women are just more in tune with their bodies?!!
Being called crazy is absolute bollocks; if you are feeling flutterings it is more likely because you recognise the feelings, rather than brewing for a fart. FFS..!

mummyof2byapril · 02/03/2010 19:41

The baby is not big enough to be felt untill 16-18 weeks earliest.
18-21 weeks is the usual time for 'quickening' though.
They used this period, when baby could first be felt as the cut off time for abortions back in the day.
'Quickening'

10 weeks is impossible to feel at unless you have your dates slightly wrong..

xkatyx · 02/03/2010 21:51

I agree with catbus

midori1999 · 02/03/2010 23:02

I am only 15 + 2 and have definitely been feeling movement for weeks now, increasingly so. I felt a huge kick during my scan today and said so and the doctor doing my scan agreed with me. I do have a twin pregnancy tough, so it's maybe easier to feel movement.

MakemineaGandT · 02/03/2010 23:05

it is NOT impossible to feel at 10 weeks - I did (2nd baby). The midwife was faffing about trying to find heartbeat and I kept telling her I could feel movement in a particular spot - she was very but as soon as she put the thingy on the spot there was a load and clear heartbeat! (and my dates were NOT wrong)

crumpetsolo · 03/03/2010 08:37

mummyoftwobyapril The baby is not big enough to be felt untill 16-18 weeks earliest.

That's rubbish. As most of the people on this thread are evidence of. I felt my first at 14 weeks. It very much depends on how big you are as well - the skinnier you are, the earlier it's possible.

juuule · 03/03/2010 08:40

I felt no2. at 11w. Definite flutters.

However, with no3. I didn't feel anything until around 21w which as you can imagine had me very worried.

Bumperlicious · 03/03/2010 20:52

So to post and run. Just got back from London for the MN party

Anyway, thanks for the replies, glad I'm not just imagining it.

Anyway, off to bed, late night really took it out of me.

I felt mine at 14 weeks with both pregnancies, I wrote in my diary at the time that I couldn't believe I wasn't supposed to feel anything till 18 weeks plus because by 15 weeks I could feel it all the time.

I am quite slim, don't know if it makes much difference, but I'm definitely not crazy!

Sunshine275 · 31/07/2018 20:09

To those saying you can’t feel it until 16 weeks and that people are crazy is just plain rude.
I’m sure I felt my first at 13 weeks and then I know for certain I felt her at 15 weeks and by 18 weeks I felt her almost everyday. I was told due to where the placenta is can play a big part in feeling the movements.
I am now 10 weeks pregnant with my second and for a few days I’m sure I can feel something, given how early I felt movement last time it would be early. Or all us ‘crazies’ are just having multiple births Hmm

FivEight · 10/05/2020 12:09

I find that to be false ..with every woman and every pregnancy different how can you seriously gawk at total strangers in disbelief that theyre all nuts or crazy...youre not an MD and i think you should learn to address everyone with an opening statement of..THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION to clarify the fact that what you're saying to these women may or may not be fact instead of soeaking so matter of factly..
The reason im adement on speaking up for other women is because i myself am pregnant and only at my 10th week . Im 5'8" always been very lean amd toned so im pretty much all bump at this point.. and either im carrying multiples or this kid is an amazing swimmer because ive literally felt flutters like bubbles scooting across my belly from the inside..weird but yes i can feel that already and even more amazing i can feel that at the same and seprate times on different spots on my belly..even down low ill feel like a uphill rise of tiny bubbles ..it dont know how else to explain it . And unless this is twins idk how its possible to feel this sensation but on both sides left and right..ill have an ultra sound this week due to suspicion of twins but aside from that im only 10wks and its my FIRST pregnancy and im almost 33.. and trust me i KNOW MY BODY...so in a nutshell please dont ever fall trap ladies to the negative internet trolls and negativity some people just have to put forth. Remain positive and excited and trust your own intuition. This is an amazing journey between you and the child in your womb. It doesnt get any closer or personal. Dont be discouraged by someone else and their opinions...mummyof2byapril

I’m 13 weeks and every once and a while I swear I feel baby move but what I’ve read online is that’s not possible so early . But then what am I feeling? This is my second baby so I know what baby movement feels like . I’ve been assuming it’s my uterus twitching too but a part of me wonders if it could be baby .

Loulou85x · 16/06/2020 22:13

@FivEight did you find out if twins? I'm 10 weeks and been feeling the same x

emma911030 · 16/06/2020 23:03

I'm almost 12 weeks into my second pregnancy and found out at 10+6 that I'm having twins (or at least there was two in there with a little heart beat each that day anyway - I worry about getting my hopes up that it will continue as twins or a pregnancy at all cause I have just too much bad luck) so fingers crossed when I go for my 12 week scan on Thursday I will see the same again!
Anyway I digress - I swear I have been feeling little movements and flutters/popping bubbles (that kinda make me feel a little itchy on the outside like it was a little tickle If that makes sense) as I did when my first started moving but at about 16/17 weeks. I did wonder whether it was because there's two and so there's not as much space as if was just one baby and that's why I feel it! No one knows your body more than you ladies I hope no one is affected by negative Nancy's they just feel they are right with everything 🤦🏼‍♀️

UrsulaSings · 16/06/2020 23:13

People getting their knickers in a twist about being called 'crazy', the poster said people who say they can feel baby moving from conception are crazy. As far as I can see, noone has said that on here.

Loulou85x · 17/06/2020 08:14

@emma911030 congratulations. My scan is next week too and I'm convinced it is also twins. My sickness hasn't subsided at all. I wonder had yours?
