Am I being a whimp?

I'm six weeks pregnant and I've been having really bad nausea. It's really bad, I can't finish a meal. I have to force food down me and I'm getting to my wits end.

I'm also super exhausted as well at the moment.

I've tried the whole ginger thing and to be honest it's making me feel worse.

I didn't go into work the other day because I felt so wretched. I've spent the last few days lying on the sofa as I haven't had the energy to do anything else.

Has anyone got any advice, I felt a bit stupid not going into work but I feel so horrid.

Not a whimp at all. Pregnancy affects everyone differently. My Best Friend was hospitalised for Nausea during the first few months.

Someone with more exp will be along in a mo.

Thanks for that, anymore for anymore?

You are not being a wimp, no. Early pg can be super-tough.

I had hyperemeisis this time and was hospitalised.

DOn't force food down-nibble little bits through the day to keep you blood sugar stable and keep hydrated. If it is really awful there are medications available that are safe, though some GPs are loathe to prescribe anything if poss.

Being super knacked is normal. You probably do need to get back to work though if you can. This bit lasts till about 14 weeks, so unless you are bad enough to get signed off, you need to struggle on unfortunately!

Most pgs improve drastically after the first trimester - hard to hang on to but true.

Have you joind the relevant ante-natal group on here for mutual empathy?

No, you're not being a wimp at all - I had about three days off work in total in my first trimester. I remember the absolute bone weariness, but it does get much better-I am now back to pre pregnancy energy levels and am currntly 22 weeks pregnant. Just keep going - I lived on cheese and toast, crumpets and crisps and water.

Yeah I have, I'm back in work tomorrow and I'm going to see how it goes.

I'm trying to keep my chin up, but when I eat it gets worse. If it carries on I'll go to the Doc and see what they say.

Thanks for replying.

Oh, it really is grim, you have my total sympathy. I'm 26 wks with number 2 and it has been awful both times in the first trimester. Second trimeter is great though, plus people know then and are nice to you! Definitely don't glow, but feel almost human and enjoy eating.

Thank you, gives me a bit of hope.

HI Hermya

With my first lo i had really bad m.s - i took a full week off work and just used that time to find foods that i could eat and find foods that made me worse. I had a major issue about actually being sick at work as i didn't feel the toliets were very clean (yuck i know) - Having the time off made a massive difference to me and for me it really did depend on what i ate as to how i felt. Fresh fruit (had to be freezing cold) was the main thing i ate during the first few months

On a postive note on second pregnancy and have only been sick a few times (27 weeks) so every pregnancy is different. Hope you feel better soon x

I am pretty tough. I weight lift and run marathons and know all about pain thresholds and crashing through barriers etc.

I spent August (early pregnancy) on the lounge, with a bucket. Could not do anything, no matter how hard I pushed.

It got so bad that I actually considered termination (of a wanted, planned pregnancy) just so it would end.

You are not a whimp.
