Anyone with a small age gap between DC1+2 got any pushchair advice?

I've been looking at the iCandy Peach Blossom but its expensive and I keep getting freaked out about ordering it in case its the wrong decision.

I have another thread going here in 'Pushchairs' but it doesn't seem to get many people on it.

Does anyone have thoughts/experiences/advice?

Thanks

im going for a second hand phil & ted on ebay.. my two boys will have a 16 months gap.

i have 16 months between my 2. at first i thought i wouldn't need to buy a double, but it soon became clear i would, if only for longer journeys. but dd was a good and confident early walker so i knew we wouldn't need it for long. i bought a second hand maclaren twin traveller on ebay fo £70. used it for about 6 months fairly regularly and then it began to tail off. stopped using it well before ds was 1, so very glad i didn't spend a fortune.

i wonder what cars many folk here drive. i have a renault clio the maclaren fitted in there. it maybe took a knack and nothing much else fitted in the boot (!!!!!) but this rarely mattered. when we went on holiday we bought 2 cheap travel buggies (mothercare but about £15 each on ebay) and the stroller connectors. made for a quite a wide load but also did the job. am hoping to pass the maclaren on to my cousin to save him shelling out on an expensive p&t or similar, when i just don't think it's worth it for the duration he'll need it.

my sil bought a double nipper when she was visiting and it was fantastically light to push. a real dream, but the way it folds means it doesn't fit in a little car. hth

Another vote here for the phil and teds (tandem not side by side).

I am a cm and have tried a few doubled, imo the p+t is the best by far.

I've 15 months between ds1 and dd2, 14 months between dd2 and ds2 and 11.5 months between ds2 and dd3. I have a cosatto duet lite. It is very heavy but folds up relatively small which is the main reason I bought it rather than another tandem. I had a side by side with ds1 and dd2 and I loved it, it was so light and easy to push but I struggled with ds1 walking behind it and tripping on it and it was a bugger to get around shops too.

Dd3 went in a sling for the first 3 months until dd2 decided she wanted to walk places and I now have a mei-tai on standby in case she wants carrying instead.

I had 15 months between my first two and had a Jane Powertwin because we did a lot of off road walking, and the P&Ts was very new at the time and people we spoke to who had one said the toddler got their fingers caught in the wheels. I think they now have guards on them?! And as both children were the same height they both got a view, rather than one of them straining to see out the side.

I regret passing it on to a friend as I think I may need one for a little bit with number four, but luckily another friend is lending me her P&T so will rely on that for a bit.

(FWIW, we did have a McLaren side by side for about a week - I absolutely HATED it - it was very heavy and was almost impossible to manoeuvre up a kerb with one hand - whereas the Powertwin was a doddle to steer).

I also echo whoever said a sling/pushchair combo doesn't work - I found it was ok for short trips, but sometimes you want the baby sleeping in the buggy whilst you play/have time with the toddler and for longer trips out, I personally found the sling quite hard work.....

i had a P and T for ds and dd (16 month gap) as we had a narrow hallway and a citroen saxo. the P and T does fold down very small if you take the wheels off. if we'd had a bigger car I'd have considered a Jane power twin. I love the P and T though but wish I'd bought black not green as the green shows the dirt.

Hi

I have gone for the Peach Blossom, it was a present from grandparents but plan on selling current mountain buggy and giving them the proceeds. Agree it is expensive but wanted to make long term investment.

I hated using the P&T, have used for 9 months whilst childminding and found it to be heavy wit loads of design flaws. The seats are very narrow so if you have a big boy like me they start to look squished pretty early on.

haven't used the peach blossom yet, but keeping my fingers crossed. Agree on where you live makes a difference. I am central london and don't drive so on and off public transport, lifts, walk for long periods of time. No way am I carrying new babe in a sling for over an hour just for a walk in the park and not be able to play easily with DS1.

Good luck with your choice.
