Wondering whether I should be worried by this or not - am in two minds, am I being paranoid and causing myself stress for no reason, or is this something to get concerned about?

So, normal pregnancy so far... baby was totally hyperactive throughout second trimester, and has gradually slowed down throughout 3rd trimester, due to less space to move i am assuming - did check this at midwife appointments and they very reassuring on this.

So now the baby has moved down, and you can see the bump get lower, and I've been told its 1/5th engaged as of last week. This seemed to coincide with baby moving a little bit less, especially less quick proddy movements from arms and legs, but its still moving its bum slowly around my ribs.

So now for the last 24 hrs i haven;t felt any of the little proddy movements although have had 10-15 of the 'moving bum a bit' style movements yesterday. However, less movements today until i just drank a coffee and now can feel him shifting around again...

so please tell me, is this ok? could it be cos i just gave up work on Monday, so am suddenly moving around myself much less, and drinking no caffeine - could it be because my routine is suddenly different, the baby reacts to this?

i am getting really paranoid and have read 2 pieces of conflicting advice - firstly the official advice is if it moves 10 times in 24 hrs its fine, but the other thing i read was that mums gut instinct tends to be better... but i don;t think i have any gut instinct at the moment! am wondering if i am being paranoid cos i read about a poor woman having a still birth at 28 weeks and its freaked me out...

so sorry about long whittering post, but wondering if anyone could shed any light? i know no one can really tell me everything is ok, but maybe tell me if this sounds vaguely normal?

They have less room to move about in the later weeks so you may feel less - that's what I found anyway. If you're really concerned, though, I would speak to your midwife.

I'd ring the on call MW or delivery suite and ask for advice. It is probably fine, but if you are worried, it is best to get it checked out.

Call the delivery suite and they can put you on a monitor which can detect movements that you can't feel as well as monitoring the heartrate. My baby's movements slowed down and he was really ill. I had a crash section but the dr said if I had waited until the morning he would have died inside me. I was going to wait because I had a mw appointment the next day but DH wanted me to go.
