Just had mine. Risk for maternal age 167. Adjusted risk 411. Which sounds low to me but I think it is just because the numbers fall off a cliff when you are over 35. I remember my first one at 28 put me at 1:1800...! Ah, my lost youth. Anyway, nasal bone is also looking fine. I think I'm happy with that but they kept asking if I wanted bloods as well - which they say gives a more accurate result but more false positives. Any thoughts?

Just musing really...

ah, but I've been 10 days late THREE TIMES! And you have got an 8 day headstart - I've got no chance.

Ohhhh I can see this becoming a bit of a competition...

PrincessPeaHead - I'll let you into a little secret....

I paid loads of money to have my nose reduced in size at age 24! Maybe thats why!!!

I'm sure every thing is fine -aloha knows her stuff!

hunkermunker · 14/07/2005 19:28

Scan did put due date at 16th January - so maybe only six days ahead... The race is on!

PrincessPeaHead · 14/07/2005 19:29

he he he he

actually my nose is fine and so are my children's. but when they are born they are ALL NOSE and within a year the face seems to catch it up! Its quite funny, people come to look at my newborns and say "oh! lovely strong features!"
always makes me laugh

is it age at gestation or conception or 12 weeks or deivery that they count? I am very scared this time - am having bloods and scan ( admark) they call the test 90% accurate with low false positive rate. Feel Nervous just dont think i could do cvs and amnio seems so horridly late!

PrincessPeaHead · 14/07/2005 19:31

don't know actually barefootmama, I think it must be at conception...

hunker in return I'm challenging you to a "length of labour" competition. hehehehehehe.

(shortest wins, obviously)

have to say dd's corker of a nose has shrunk to nomal proportions with age. her newborn pics were quite frightening.

piglit · 15/07/2005 09:23

PPH - my risk with ds last year (age 36) was 1 in 1633 and with dd at my scan in May (age 37) I was told it was 1 in 863. I thought that was quite a big drop (although both were v good) but the scanner explained to me that in fact the scan for this pg is really as good as for the last pg because when you get to 35 your odds "drop like a stone". I have decided not to give it another thought - I worry far too much in pregnancy as it is.....

BarefootMama · 15/07/2005 09:24

Me too piglitt ( you have had yours close together!!)

piglit · 15/07/2005 09:27

Err, they will be 13 months apart. Yikes. (That's another thing I worry about.....!

muminlondon · 19/07/2005 20:49

just come back to this thread after a computer crash - have tried to cat you pph!

Thomcat · 19/07/2005 21:01

Hey PPH, massive congrats, I didn't know, so pleased hon'. When are you due?

Your odds sound great to me. My risk was a lot greater and we're all good. I think you have to set yourself a percentage figure that you're happy with and stick to it. If you feel that you're at risk figure makes you very nervous then think more about progressing down the test route. I had further tests cos I was told "It doesn't look good, I'm sorry" and I was so, so scared and had to know what the hell was going on. You 2 however sound fine and I'd just relax and enjoy the pregnancy. Only you know how relaxed you are about it and what you have to do, and till you're there, living it, noone knows how they'd feel and what they'd do. Whatever, I wish you love and luck and a healthy, happy pregancy. TC xx
