Hi girls i am 7 weeks pregnant and still swimming and doing yoga class but taking the moves easy. What are you doing to keep fit and healthy during pregnancy?

Belly dancing. Still too tired at 14 weeks for anything else but will start aquafit and swimming when I get the energy. In my last pregnancy this was at about 17-18 weeks to 40 weeks.

Belly dancing, amazing! I think my energy will run out in a few weeks as im feeling strangely full of beans at the mo.

i'm 28 weeks and am still doing aquafit and swimming although not as much as before as too tired. I was also doing aerobics until a couple of weeks ago

I am 6.5 weeks and swimming and planning to start pregnancy yoga soon, I have been warned always to tell your yoga instructor that you are pregnant and to be careful to do it at home alone as you might not know what is dangerous....Good luck! D

I'm nearly 35 weeks and am still swimming once a week. I was swimming 3 times a week until about 25 weeks. I also do an antenatal relaxation/exercise class and yoga - both once a week. I intend to swim as much as possible once I'm on maternity leave, as being in the pool is very comfortable...

I'm 33 weeks and spend 30 mins on the cross trainer 3 times a week and go walking (about 20 mins) the other days. I was doing weights at the gym but after getting some pelvic pains and lower back pains I stopped and figure I have a 10 kilo toddler to lift so that's quite enough

General rule of thumb: Do what you feel you can, stop when your body tells you to. Don't get so out of breath that you can't talk and try not to overheat.

Hope that helps.

p.s. In the early stages you may feel way too exhausted to do much anyway. I found I got more energy in my 2nd trimester and now I'm tired again but not as tired as the first 3 months. Your body is doing loads of work "behind the scenes" as it were.

I was contemplating doing yoga with the Wii, but maybe that's not a good idea? I would like to join a pregnancy yoga class but I'm having difficulty finding one near me which starts late enough. (My husband doesn't get home until 7.30 and, obviously, I can't just leave my daughter.) This is exacerbated by the fact that I don't drive so it has to be accessible by public transport. If anyone knows of a good class near Banstead I'd love to know!

Is there an aquanatal class at your local leisure centre? I go to one run by a midwife and wish I'd gone while I was still at work. Its blissful (apart from crappy municipal changing facilities!)

I started yoga in my 14th week. I wanted to start sooner but tbh i was just exhausted in my first trimester. I have picked up a pregnancy yoga dvd which i plan to do at home. My yoga class is good but its not a pregnancy orientated class - just a usual class at my gym. The teacher does point what i shouldnt do but cant really give me anything pregnancy specific - doesnt have the specialist knowledge and cant suddenly start teaching pregnancy yoga in class of non-pregnant students!

Doing it at home should be fine as long as you have a pregnany yoga dvd and again listen to your own body and dont overdo it.

I'm 33 weeks and was still running til 2 weeks ago when the horrid cold struck me

MarshaBrady · 24/02/2010 14:38

I swam until 38 weeks. It was great! Missing it now.
