other than the ahemm obvious, I feel massively confused as to what I need equipment wise to breast feed.

I am guessing a breast pump (any reccomendations would be welcomed, and manual versus electric?????)

and then bottles/containers/ steriliser???

is it worth buying formula just in case all doesn't go to plan?

any thoughts would be welcomed!

i did not buy any equipment until i was well established with bf'ing. Then at 6 weeks I bought a medela swing electric pump off ebay. It is absolutely brill and cannot recommend it enough, but as I said, did not fork out for it until i was sure that i was successfully bf'ing. same with bottles and steriliser etc. Picked them all up from the supermarket, so easily availble if you do need them.
You really don't need half the guff that people/magazines/shops say you need!
Good luck

Please please please do not buy anything apart from a couple of good nursing bras and breast pads.

But while you are at it- borrow 'The politics of breastfeeding' by Gabrielle Palmer and then you will understand why your breasts are really all you need.
(and why woman are giving silly amounts of money to companies who tell us otherwise )

Breastfeeding is fabulous- so much so that I am seriously considering baby number 4 just so I can do it again .
