35 weeks, very frequent braxton hicks all weekend, don't think I'll make it to ELCS date in four weeks time!

Hello

Just wanted to share my woes.

I'm 35+2 and have been having BH for the past few weeks, on and off, a few times a day. On Saturday evening though, I noticed they were becomgin more frequent and uncomfortable, managed to sleep but was aware of them at the same time. Continued at 5/10 min intervals throughout yesterday and was on the verge of calling the labour ward last night, but decided to stay put and wait til morning. Was awoken a few times in night, got up at 2am for cup of tea and BH seemed to have settled a bit, so returned to bed and slept pretty well.

This morning, they have settled down, but left me feeling panicked that this baby might appear any minute! I've even packed my hospital bag and washed all baby stuff to be on safe side. Eeeekkk!

I'm booked for an ELCS on 23rd March at 39+3, but can't see me lasting that long.

Anyone else had similar?

Is it your first baby?

Have you rung the midwife for a chat? I experienced a lot of BH's in my second pregnancy. They would go on for hours. You can get loads when the baby starts to engage. I also got quite a few practice runs of contractions that were like mild versions of real ones. Didnt give birth til 40 weeks though.

Hi peppa

No, it's my second child.

Don't really remember BH with first at all!

LO has been lying breech and was moving round an awful lot last night, so perhaps she is trying to get into position with limited space.

Haven't called mw as have appt with her tomorrow afternoon so will raise it with her then.

Here's hoping I can hang on in there!

I hope it doesn't mean that the birth is imminent as I have been having them all weekend and I'm only 33 weeks!

messylittlemonkey · 22/02/2010 12:05

Let's keep our fongers crossed, eh, dollshouse?

Or even our fingers!

Still, keeping fongers crosssed might have the same effect!

Yes, fingers crossed.

I had braxton hicks from early on with ds1 but I don't remember them being so frequent. Mine have also settled down today. My baby is also breech so maybe there is a connection.

messylittlemonkey · 22/02/2010 12:16

Yes, maybe there's a link.

It's all so flippin' unpredicatable isnt' it? And I'm a control freak!

Hi, don't know if this helps. I'm 35+1 with DC2. She was lying breech from 32 weeks and i had really strong braxton hicks. she eventually turned and in the past week i've had nothing. So maybe there is a connection?

Also, should point out never had BH with DD1.

BellasYummyMummy · 22/02/2010 14:28

I'm just over 38 weeks and have had BH since about 28 weeks, I get them all the time and have done for weeks yet still no baby! Sometimes they are very uncomfy but i know they're not contractions.
See what your MW says then post on here, I'd be interested to see what she says

messylittlemonkey · 22/02/2010 15:04

Thanks for all of your experiences.

Bellas, I'll ask mw tomorrow and tell you what she has to say.

I think I panicked a bit over the weekend as I didn't expereince anything like this with DD1. In fact, the BH I've been having were about the same strength as the weak contractions I got after my waters broke with DD1. I had to be induced eventually as the contractions were too weak to be useful!
