Yes, it's almost certainly piles, and its (unfortunately!) something that IIRC about 25-40% pregnant women experience (because the baby's position and weight means that the blood flows down to your bum but doesn't "return" so easily, so these little pockets form which are bulges in the blood vessels). You will probably be able to feel them if that's what it is, like little bumps.

You can get stuff over the counter to help keep them under control, and eat lots of fibre, don't strain on the loo etc. The bad news is that they might get worse before they get better, sorry :-(. The good news is that they will shrink and probably disappear completely after you have your baby. Speak to your GP if you are worried about them.

Yes you sometimes have blood when you have piles but it could also just be a small tear if you have been constipated. If it is piles there will also usually be itching, burning and/or pain and as sausage said you might feel them sticking out, unless they're internal. You can use one of the creams or ointments from the chemist safely in pregnancy and also using wet wipes instead of toilet paper will help a lot.

Hi

I sympathise! I had piles before pregnancy and im soooo worried they will get worse. I thing best thing is try not to spend too long on the loo either! Keep the area really clean and you can get over the counter sprays and creams to help. They do stick out but they are only a problem when they start to stick out a bit and even wiping can be painfull, not to mention itchy. Lots of water and fibre- weetabix normaly does the trick for me! take care!

blood could be piles or alternatively anal fissure, best to speak to GP next time you see them
