Hi - wonder if you can help I was a frequent migraine sufferer before i fell pregnant and have not had a migraine in my first 2 months which was fab then last night have been hit by a full on Migraine Attack. The paracetamol has not done anything at all, is there anything else I can try I am 9 weeks. Before I fell pregnant i was on nasal sprays for my migraine attacks,

Thanks in advance

my sympathies.....having suffered migraines (with auras) in the past I know how awful these can be.
I am no doctor, and would suggest you spoke to one, but I am thinking there will be nothing you can take which won't have a risk to the baby, particularly in the 1st trimester while it is developing. Migraine drugs are extremely powerful and I don't think it would be recommended to take immigran or your nasal spray or anything similar.
I am thinking paracetamol is the only drug you can take for pain relief in pregnancy, but also know it probably won't touch the migraine symptoms.
Hopefully you won't be struck down too often with migraines in pregnancy, i have read the changes in hormones can sometimes lessen attacks.
good luck.

You can take other painkillers (codeine for example) but you do need to see your GP to discuss the pros and cons of every medication. Acupuncture has a good track record for treating migraine and it is completely safe (as far as anything can be 'completely safe') in pregnancy. They may subside as your hormones settle down so good luck.

Bad news is there isn't really anything effective you can take
Good news: Highly recommend this....
migra cap
And apparently most people find migraine gets less frequent in pregnancy as hormones are more stable than usual monthly cycles. Mine seem to have stopped from about 17 weeks

i also get migraines and wasnt allowed any painkillers through my doctor except paracetamol until i was definitely into the second trimester then he prescribed me co codamol 8/500. they havent really touched the migraines either to be honest.

the only thing ive had to do is go to bed with a cold flannel on my head and ride it out

im now 24 weeks and the migraines are still there but not as often as they have been.

i hope you find some relief soon
