Acupunture for morning sickness

Hi, wondered if anyone can help. I'm asking this on behalf of a friend who is nearly 12 wks pg (after her 7th IVF) and is struggling with really bad MS.

I have heard good things about acupuncture for MS but wondered if anyone could give me their own stories of this - either positive or negative?

I had acupunture for SPD when pg and found it very good but my MS didn't last long enough for me to worry about doing acupuncture for that too.

If you had it and it worked, how many sessisions did you have?

TIA .

I tried it, and it worked but effects only lasted a day or so after each session, so a bit expensive to be practical.

i found relief in the morningwell CD though, and by 12-13 weeks it was easing off.

I had it for hyperemesis but along with prescribed medication for the sickness as I got pretty ill.

I found it definately helped and had twice a week treatments.

Acupuncture can be fantastic for helping with nausea. I'm not an acupuncturist but I do practice EFT tapping, (I'm a hypnotherapist) which is based on similar principles. The results I get with EFT on myself and also my clients are quite staggering.

I had a terrible time with sickness with dd1, not to mention pain etc, but now i've just found out im pg with no 2, I am sooooo glad I've got EFT this time.

Check out some of the case studies on www.emofree.com - they are real, and sometimes quite mind blowing.

I had really bad morning sickness (currently 16 wks) not totally gone but vastly, hugely improved.

I totally sympathise with your friend. I had barely left the flat in 3 weeks and was clutching at straws, my physio (buggered shoulder) suggested acupuncture. I HATE needles and was a little sceptical but tried it and I think it worked.

I had 4 sessions and definitely felt some relief. It's not totally gone and I've been sick a couple of times since but the improvement was absolutely worth it. I would have gone for further sessions but currently not working and it's not cheap.

Best of luck

sponge brain I had acupuncture weekly until week 20ish (still feel sick now and im 32 weeks ) Ms/HG was so bad i was practically bed ridden so even getting to the acupuncurist was a feat. It definately worked when the needles were in and sometimes for several hours afterwards so i carried on with it but wasnt a miracle cure for me. hope your friend starts to feel better soon.

Serafina - i've been having coucelling with EFT for two years. I got some relief from the MS directly after monthly phone sessions with her but it didnt last and my own EFT efforts were futile in relieving the symptoms... BUT it definitley stopped me getting depressed . Id be really interested to know how you get on with it.

  • to be honest when ms/HG is really bad most treatments (and i tried the drugs too) feel like trying to stop the tide coming in with bucket and spade

Thanks guys, money is very tight for her so not sure she'd be able to afford many rounds of acupuncture.

Will suggest the CD though - sounds interesting.

Thanks again.
