I honestly wouldn't worry - I know you're meant to feel it earlier with subsequent pregnancies, but it's definitely not always the case.

You could have an anterior placenta this time round which means you'll only feel the movements later. But even if you don't, it's not at all unusual not to be feeling them yet.

I saw my MW today and she said that for a 4th baby you would probably start feeling movements by 16-18wks - so still plenty of time left yet.

tassisssss · 15/02/2010 13:51

i wasn't significantly earlier with my 2nd or 3rd and didn't feel movement with any of them at 16 weeks.

have you tried having a warm deep bath? I found it easier to feel first movements in the bath.

PanicMode · 15/02/2010 13:57

I felt my fourth later than my first three too - it may be because the placenta is anterior or maybe our stomach muscles aren't quite what they were, so you don't feel them as early.

Try not to worry - this one is making up for it now and is a real wriggler!!

im pg with dc3 and it was 18 wks before i felt anything.

now 21 weeks and baby is jumping all over the place

redqueen45 · 16/02/2010 12:02

Like you, was also worrying as 16, then 17 weeks came and went - am pg with my 5th & KNOW I felt the others moving around at 16 weeks. Will be 18 weeks tomorrow; last night + this morning definately felt small yet determined movements - such relief!

Hang on in there, & try not to worry... difficult I know. I tried to reassure myself by thinking "well, perhaps this one's going to be calm & placid, a nice change from the lively group of nutters I seem to have created so far"...
Not much hope of that!

Pompeygirl if you want reassurance about lack of movement see your midwife or ring the labour ward STRAIGHTAWAY. Don't mess about with a bit of kit you have no training in using or interpreting the results, that's just dangerous.

I think those dopplers are marketed irresponsibly.
