Previous very late onset GD, when will I be monitored second time round?

Firstly, I'm not pg yet, but am planning to be very soon, all things being equal.

Am very overweight, father has Type 2 diabetes, all high risk stuff I know. However, I'm stupid and didn't lose the weight, although am a bit less than I was first time round. But time is against me and if I want another dc, then it has to be soon.

Last time, I had a GTT at 28 weeks which I suspected would come back positive. However, it came back clear with very good, low levels. All was fine until 38 weeks when I measured 40 weeks so they sent me for scan and to diabetic nurse. I was told to monitor BS and, apart from one day (Christmas Day!) my levels were below 7 as requested. But they still insisted on inducing me on EDD and I let them. DD was monitored for low BS and it caused shitloads of hassle including being forced to FF instead of BF.

Anyway, if you're still awake after all that, what I want to know is what is likely to happen next time? Will the diabetic lot call me in asap or will they leave me to get on with it until the inevitable GTT? I wish I had lost the weight but I haven't and so I need to bite the bullet and get on with it but want to be more prepared. I hated all the intervention the last time.

Just to add, that there were no other issues last time. Had a natural albeit fast delivery and no other problems during the pg.

Sorry for ramble and thanks for any advice
