Nux vomica 6ch for morning sickness. Dosage?

Can anyone please help me in regards to what dosage is appropriate for MS. I'm 6w5d and always sick and nauseous, dizzy and am despairing. Has anyone got experience with the globuli of Nux vomica and can clarify it for me?

5 globuli under the tongue every 2h? Am I wrong? Strength is 6ch.

TIA!

Had to look it up but blimey, it's from the same plant species as strychnine. Not something I would go anywhere near in pregnancy.

Oatcakes and other complex carbohydrates did the trick for me when I had morning sickness (in non-homeopathic doses obviously). Sorry if that is not the sort of advice you want. My morning sickness was of the low blood sugar type. I have no experience with homeopathic morning sickness.

Hi Lexi,

yes it is. I am also but it has been recommended a few times and esp. in one book: Natural Pregnancy by Zita West.

Unforch, no food will work on me, I am just sick and feel like I've been on a weekend bender all day all week. It is truly horrible and I'd like to find a remedy just to cope with my day and looking after my dd.

With homeopathic medicines the amount of granules you take at any one time is largely irrelevant, what makes a difference is how often you take them, and the potency (ie 6ch or 30ch). So, unless you want to use your pack 5 times more quickly, then just take one. But 5 is ok too!

For something urgent, you can take the dose more often, for something chronic less often.

As it starts to get better you can decrease the frequency of the dose.

So for morning sickness, if you are taking nux vomica 6ch, you can take a granule when you start to feel rough, and perhaps repeat the dose an hour later. The remedy will work best if you don't take it at the same time as a meal.

If the morning sickness gets completely better, then stop taking all together (its not like antibiotics where you need to finish the course nor does it suppress your symptoms only for them to come back once you stop). You could see it as the nux vomica triggering your body to balance itself; once that has been done, you can stop taking it.

Although nux vomica is a useful remedy for morning sickness you may find that it doesn't work for you, and that some other remedy would. It could be useful to consult a trained homeopath in that instance.

Thank you peasandbeans!! I appreciate the insight and advice!

Just by the by, is it true that the more diluted a homeopathic medicine is, the more potent it is? Ie. 30c is more powerful than 6c?

If mine doesn't help I'll go back to my doctor.

this is interesting...I am always looking for a good solution so I can get pregnant again!!

Good luck Roan. One thing I think is crucial with m/s is to try not to worry about food intake, but to try and have enough to drink...I survived on icy home made milkshakes quite a lot of the time, and it made me feel much better - enough to eat something at times!

Flightattendant · 06/02/2010 06:45

what I mean is being even slightly dehydrated can make it 100 times worse, people with HG (like I had) tend to feel better after having an IV drip (which I didn't have)...and I have never been a big water drinker iyswim. It kind of adds up imo.

Thank you FA, yes, I actually found that cold milk is niiice. And icy lemony water

yes Roan, that is right 30c is more powerful than 6c and also more dilute.

sorry to have been slow to answer..

I am going to be cheeky here and offer my twopenneth and say try really strong ginger cordial instead. If it is really, really, really bad (eg, to the point of dehydration) go to the doctors and discuss the possibility of antiemetics.

Again, sorry if this is not the kind of advice you were looking for but I am thinking back to my own experience- had hyperemesis gravidarum and fannied around with homeopathic remedies etc for a while, which did nothing.

Not surprising as homeopathic tablets are made from chalk, water and binding agents - no medicine in them at all. I know many people believe in them and if they work for you, great, but if they don't then please don't just put up with it if it's really really bad - you deserve a nice pregnancy.
