Experiences with induction for your second pregnancy

I'm due to be induced on Sunday morning at 38+4 weeks due to high blood pressure and my little princess has decided that she doesn't want to move much.

When I was examined yesterday I was already 3cm dilated and and 60% effaced and my cervix was 1.5cm long so they done a sweep, and they think that all I'll need is my waters broken.

I'm really nervous at the fact that I know the exact date she's going to come and now I have 2 days to really think about it. What are you experiences?

I had a natural birth which only lasted 6hrs from my waters breaking with my son and only 2hrs established labour so I'm hoping this will be just as quick.

Thanks

I was induced for number 3 at 39 weeks (reduced amniotic fluid). It was super quick - I only needed the first stage of induction and was probaby in established labour for about 1 hour.

I was induced with my second for similar reasons to yourself. My first labour was a couple of hours. I was not at all dilated on examination, and would have unfavourable for a sweep even, but two loads of gel got me going and DS2 was delivered about an hour after my first contraction. It was all very straightforward. Good luck!

I was induced with dc2 but was showing none of the favourable labour symptoms you are showing.
they did 2 pecssaries and then broke my waters and still I didn't dilate so they pput me on the drip but once my contractions had started he was here in about 6 hours ( that was after a 24 hour labour with my first from the same point)

so I think you'll be fine your body sounds ready to me.

My daughter arrived due to high blood pressure early but my water went spontaneously just before they were about to start me off.

I have had 3 friends that have had inductions for DC2. All were very quick and straightforward and all the Mum's talk very positively about the births.

Try to take your mind off of it. Cinema? Film? Crap TV?

Just had very interesting chat with consultant because my DD1 was induced at 42 weeks and took three, that's right, three, whole days to make her appearance. Apparently the issue is the Bishop's Score - check your notes to see what yours is. Mine was 0, and the consultant said he would have predicted pretty much the outcome I got. A dilated cervix and an engaged head mean that your score would be very high, and therefore that it is quite likely that things will be pretty normal! Induction horror stories occur when you are showing no favourable signs.

Another quick one here, was induced with dd at 40+12 she did not arrive until three days later, yukky, horrible, tired, it hurt, put on the drip, forcepts and stiches I was not happy.

Induced again at 40+12 for ds (just over two weks ago) gel at 1.30. contractions started at 3.30, very painful by 4.30, 4cm at 6pm, down at last on labour ward when I was in transition an hour later then ds popped out 19 mins later. Both big and OP babies. By god it hurt but thankfully was quick. Everyone told me my body has done it before it would know what to do and I have to say it did!!

Good luck, so exciting that your dc nearly here
