Reflexology to induce labour

Hi,

I'm planning on booking a session of reflexology for next week, I'll be 39+ weeks. Has anyone tried it to induce labour? Did it work?
Thanks

Well I can never be sure it was the reflexology but I had one session, and went into labour that night at 40+2! Even if it doesn't work it makes you wonderfully relaxed and feel very cherished and pampered and I haven't felt like that since - six months later! Hey ho maybe when gorgeous, gorgeous DS is old enough for a babysitter I'll have another session. Good luck anyway!

Oh I was going to ask this! I am considering this too and am going on the premise that the baby won't come until it's ready anyway. Once I have my treatment I will post up the results

I am also trying reflexology. a woman from one of my antenatal classes had her baby on time and a quick labour possibly as a result of the relexology. If nothing else it is very relaxing and manages to reduce my horrible swollen feet! I am currently 36 weeks and will see her for 'inducing' sessions from 38 weeks.

I await with interest more success stories!

I had two sessions of reflexology when i was 40plus weeks with DS. Very nice it was too but made absolutely no difference - neither did the thousand other things i tried - DS was induced. I have heard acupuncture has a better record on getting labour going if you are into trying things

good luck everyone

To be fair, my reflexologist said she wouldn't do anything to move baby along, and DS would come when he was ready, but she would help me relax and remove any mental blocks I might have had that might be stopping my body prepare for labour. Dunno if it worked at inducing me, but I certainly can't recommend reflexology for an easy labour admires scar along sunroof.

Had it at 40 + 9 and was induced at 40 + 12 so no didn't make a jot of difference but it was really really nice and made me feel much calmer when I was beginning to get quite anxious.

Hi, im 18 weeks pregnant and my mum is a reflexologist and trained in midwifery thus can now do the therapy on pregnant women. She has already started giving me a session once a fortnight just to detox. She did many women in their last week and they had a very prompt and succesful delivery, however this does not mean that as soon as you have it, out comes baby. Like most things people react differently to it, some may take longer for it to kick in. I think that it is great it helps you relax and gets rid of all the nasties and many times, although not always helps to enduce labour. It is also amazing how every part of your foot is linked to different organs in your body! Definetly try it out, however you react to it it will be possitive!!!

didn't work for me, think i was about 40 +5 when i had it, induced at 40+ 11 or thereabouts
