Antenatal classes late & a bit worried

Being a bit paranoid here I expect but can anyone tell me anything that I would be told about at antenatal classes that I will need before 34-36 weeks or so?

Am 31 weeks pg and was booked onto NHS classes starting next week, which seemed fine. They have now cancelled these and rebooked me onto classes but they don't start until the 18th Feb (and finish 2 weeks later) - when I will be over 34 weeks pg. I'm a bit worried about this being a bit late - or is it ok? I can't get to NCT classes unfortunately.

Any information welcome!

Not sure hun, but I have my first and last an class on Sat, I'll be 34 weeks then. They only offer one session where I live! I can't see there being anything vital you should know before that time otherwise they'd hold the classes earlier!xx

They really will not tell you anything you won't have read up on in books/MN etc so try not to worry. The likelihood is you will make the classes just fine

At my classes (NCT) I was about 32 and a half weeks but there were other women there who were 34w, so I'm sure it's fine.

They invited me to antenatal classes between 40-44 weeks as the others were already full and I wasn't due until 31st August they thought that it would be ok for me to go along to the September classes.

Oh my, I'm the same. Couldn't get into the ones at 20+ weeks so I rebooked and they said January (I thought this was too late as I'd be, and now am 38 weeks) but still waiting to here, but found out they are full. I am just going with the 'I seem to have read everything I can possibly read' and that what will be will be. Loads of great info on MN and the forums and it's better to get the real life experiences of other Mums I think.

I had my last class (of 3) last night at 36 weeks. I too panicked about them being quite late, but it's better really as things are fresh in your mind.

Didn't learn much I didn't already know from books etc, but it was useful to find out hospital policies on pain relief, induction etc, we were given a list of what to bring and what the hospital provide, and the tour of the Maternity wing was very useful, to get an idea of what it's actually going to be like when the time comes!

I had my first class at 35+2, went to the first 3 and skipped the rest. Nothing you cant learn from books, MN etc but was good to be shown round the labour suite/post natal wards etc.

CMOTdibbler · 29/01/2010 13:22

I went to classes at 33-34 weeks. I missed the NHS tour of the ward as I was in there having had DS at 35 weeks. It was odd to see them going round

WalkingBookworm · 29/01/2010 14:20

Ok sounds like it's just me being worried then! Good point about it being fresh in your mind too I guess.

Hope your DS was ok despite being early CMOT.
