Missing a good cup of tea!

Have been unable to comtemplate a cup of tea since getting pregnant. Off coffee too for that matter.

Do I have to wait till I get tea and toast in hospital after the birth before I can enjoy a good cuppa again?

Am 13 weeks now.

Anyone else find a similar aversion wore off after the early months?

I went off it too until about 14 weeks.
Since then I have guzzled the stuff - it is bloody lovely! Still off coffee, which is odd as it is my favourite, but the tea is fabulous.

Hope you get to rnjoy again soon - that first cuppa is fabulous.

I also went off tea when I was pregnant, wore off at about 20 weeks or so. Missed it so much, never refuse a cuppa now

Thanks both. DH just made a cup and I'd love to have one. I was also a coffee fiend before but I can do without that as it was just an occational treat - but the no tea thing leaves a gap!

I started fancying proper tea again at about 16 weeks. I'm now 28 weeks, but I can still only have a couple a day.

Actually, starting to drink a proper cup of tea was my cue to start feeling better after the first trimester sickness/nausea/exhaustion/blahs.

I have deliberately given up tea and coffee (paranoid first timer!) but have been surprised to find I don't miss them at all, I feel completely averse to anything hot and milky or strong smelling. Used to be a tea addict!

MrsMattie · 25/01/2010 17:02

I started to be able to face tea again at around 22 weeks-ish

I was astounded and appalled that I went off tea, and tried about 10 different kinds before I found one I could tolerate, which was some vastly expensive oolong-schmoolong kind.

Back on the PG tips now at 26 weeks.

Mmmmm tea.

I was off tea (and coffee) but I tried some Tetleys Decaf tea at the weekend and it is amazing! I prefer it to normal tea! So I'm drinking that now. Can't stomach the thought of coffee yet though!

I went off tea during my morning sickness and still didn't fancy it when the sickness finally went......I basically forced myself to start drinking it again! Love it now tho am trying to stick to decaff.

Inspirachion · 25/01/2010 21:05

Oooh there's an idea I'll look for the decaf tea in Asda maybe that will do it

I went of tea through to 16-17 week, love it now! But oddly enough there is a mug that I had a cup from and then was sick, still can not drink tea from that mug as it makes me feel like puking! how odd

I@ve been off tea since early pregnancy and still of it 26 weeks tomorrow however i can now tolerate hot chocolate and water thats about all my first pregnancy i was fine with Tea after 13-14 weeks!!! I miss my first morning cuppa and taking a strong brew to a meeting!!!!

I switched to Rooibos/Red Bush tea early on as I never went off it, and it's still my tea of choice right now (at 19 weeks). It's quite strong and tea-like in many aspects, though may need getting used too as it is a different flavour (entirely different plant). A rooibos vanilla that I can get in Waitrose is particularly lovely.

I'm also partial to a decaf Earl Grey and peppermint tea
