Feeling very rough

I've been feeling really rough for the past couple of weeks, especially in the morning. It's kind of like being hung over having drunk no alcohol! You know that really heavy in your head, muggy feeling and just being generally knackered?

I'm 22 weeks atm and don't remember feeling like this the last time. I have a 2 year old and work part-time (although my working days are a lot easier than my toddler days!) and am 39. so don't know if they are the major factors.

I had my 22 week GP appt last week and all OK with the baby. GP didn't seem to think how I am feeling is very unusual at all.

Anyone feeling similar? When on earth am I going to 'bloom' and if I feel like this at 22 weeks, what chance do I have in the 3rd trimester?

Sorry to moan, I know a lot of people are feeling far worse, just feeling a bit worried...

Have you had your thyroid levels checked?

louloubelle · 25/01/2010 09:37

Poor you...I have suffered headaches in all my pregnancies at about 20 weeks from about a month, it is apparently very normal.

Mishy1234 · 25/01/2010 09:38

Mybox- no, I don't think so unless they are part of the normal bloods they do. I'll definitely look into it, thanks!

Mishy I felt very tired out & gained lots of weight so my doc checked my thyroid levels & I needed medication to bring the level to normal. Last year I didn't know I was preg & told my doctor I was exhusted & she said to increase my thyroid medication. When I realised I was preg my feeling really tired out made sense! Hope you're feeling ok soon.

Mybox- I have gained some weight, but had thought that was just eating too much, which of course it might still turn out to be. I've had a look online re: thyroid issues whilst pregnant and will definitely give the mw a call. It's certainly worth investigating and will just be an extra blood test. Thanks so much for the info, even if it's nothing I'll be glad I looked into it.

Thanks for the sympathy louloubelle! I remember feeling really great at this point when I was pregnant the first time, I have been expecting the same this time around.

Hope everything turns out ok Mishy. Good idea to get it checked. Best wishes xx

Hi Mishy just thought I'd add my 2 cents in. I have felt like this on and off during my pregnancy but I found it to be my sinuses. The headaches are like cloudiness/mugginess that I couldn't shake. I don't have an infection but I did start using a saline nasal spray as I was drying out big time in the middle of the night and this along with steaming seemed to clear it away. I know this might not be the same as you and I know you are going to get checked out anyway. Best wishes xx

Mishy -- have you had your iron levels checked? I know we are all throwing suggestions at you!

I was feeling lousy at around your stage of pregnancy and had my iron levels checked. Turned out I needed extra supplementation as my reserves were quite low.

Felt a difference (loads more energy)within a few days and no constipation!

Mishy - get your hematocrit checked (iron stores) - it's not an automatic with the rest of the bloods and it's very important to know.

Could be a factor in tiredness.

Also (speaking as pregnant owner of a toddler, too second pregs just seem to be more tiring cos the whole 'resting at the weekend' factor is entirely gone unless you have a great partner or lots of family support around!)

All the best and hang on in there - it is hard, I totally agree.
