I am currently 41 weeks today. Had my MW round for a sweep but she couldnt do it as my cervix was too high / unfavourable.
This is my third DS (first one induced, second came naturally at 8 days over, the day before i was due to have a sweep)
What are the chances of me still going into natural labour????
Feeling like all my choices for a natural birth are being taken away
TIA

Hi TEssiebear, I went 12 days and 14 days over with my 2 - you don't need to be induced even if you go way over - they can monitor you instead. I had homebirth with dd at 40 +14, and my mw had the week before delivered someone who was 40+21 so don't despair! Would recommend the sex (and lie down with your feet up for half an hour afterwards), and also good long walks to get things going.

Hope things go well.

Thanks for your support!!! Still no news.
Had a sweep yesterday (at least she was able to do it) but nothing has happened yet.
Have asked her for another one tommorow morning - just to give me one more chance.
Triplets - glad you enjoyed your bat walk - i was reading about that. At least you did something memorable on Matthews day.
Tortoiseshell - unfortunately in this area they do not let you go more than 14 days overdue and do not offer the daily monitoring service THey just book you in for induction.

Hi Tessiebear,
Fingers and everything else crossed for you in the next 24 hours! Let me know if you need any help,ie boys could come and play!

tortoiseshell · 11/07/2005 16:46

Tessiebear, that's what they say here too, but if you see a consultant, and ask him straight out, you might find what they actually do is different to what they say they do iyswim. Anyway, hope you go into labour naturally very soon!

Tessiebear · 11/07/2005 17:28

Well i am DEFINATELY having a show (wont go into details but all very "text book") But it is just a very gradual one. With the boys it was - a big show - then straight into labour!!!
I also have a dull backache - so who knows what tonight will bring!!
Thanks for your offer of help Triplets!!! - i will ring you if i need to
Felt guilty today - got a call at about 3.20 from the school to say that all after school clubs had finished (i had told my mum not to pick DS1 up until 4pm after story club )
Must read the newsletter more carefully

Btw Tortoishell - i have got a MW coming out tommorow morning for one last sweep - i may discuss my options with her - if i am very close it would be a shame to be induced just for the sake of another day or two! (supposed to be induced Wed. morning)

You must be feeling excited, I am! Keep going and keep us posted if you can! Here if you need me!

Tessiebear I meant to say you have more on your mind than after school clubs, I feel abit guilty as I saw Tom with his worried of Walmer look, I didn`t know about the clubs!

Tessibear - have a glass of wine tonight - that will do the trick {wink]
