Implantation cramps? Worried.

Hi, my DH and I have been trying to conceive our second for several months now - irregular periods on my part haven't helped -yesterday, I started to get waves of dreadful cramping in my uterus-area - it took me a while to isolate the pain, because it was similar to the pain of needing to empty the bowels and the pain you get after emptying a very full bladder.

Paracetamol took away the really painful spasming part of the cramps but left just dull ache - this is far worse than my usual period (and my first pregnancy) - could it be an ectopic pregnancy or implantation cramps?

I haven't done a pregnancy test because my period is not overdue yet.

TIA!

Are you still in pain? Is the pain located to one side?

Yes, still in pain - no not located to one side, feels typically like spasming period pains - but much worst than I've had in maybe 20 years!

I had this sensation in the middle of the night when I conceived DD - bad enough to wake me and keep me awake. I eventually fell back asleep at dawn and thought no more of it until I got my bfp about 10 days later...

I had DS 3 1/2 years later. No such thing happened with him.

I'm currently 33+6 with DS2. This time I was charting and 4 days past ovulation I awoke with the same awful cramps I felt with DD (some 15 years ago by this point!). As I'm older wiser now, I paid a little more attention to it/them and would agree that it faded to a dull ache after a period of intensity (that I also cracked out the paracetamol for). Completely gone within 24 hours of starting though. Bfp 10 days later (although 'sure' I was pregnant before that thanks to massively sore/tingly nipples).

I hope your cramping is indeed implantation as that seems to be your aim ;) If the pain keeps on reoccuring you will want to visit your GP to rule out anything sinister, but a 'one off' bout of pain could be any number of innocuous things...including implantation. Good luck!

Hi, I agree with MandaHugNKiss, it could be one of many things. Ectopic pain is usually to one side IIRC. If the pain continues or you're still worried there's no harm in contacting your GP or NHS direct (0845 4647).

Hope you feel better soon x

Thank you both! Hope so, typical it gets worse at the weekend, though!

I had exactly the same type of pains yesterday evening and have no idea what it was. Not exactly TTC just not using contraception so haven't paid any attention to cycle but could be pg i suppose. I guess we'll find out soon enough! Good luck.

Done a pg test - negative; GP wants me to take urine sample in so they can check there's no urinary infection.

She also suggested that it might (as I have had 6 week cycles) have been ovulation pains - if that's the case, there will be no pregnancy as I ain't having sex with this pain!!!!!
