Hi all

Just wondering - I know the amount of oily fish pregnant women consume needs to be limited to 2 servings a week. But is there a similar restriction for non-oily fish such as cod or haddock?

I'm really not sure and don't want to do the wrong thing. I had cod in a fish pie I made on Monday, and today I want to have a piece of cod again, but I'm worried about doing something wrong. Any views would be much appreciated! Thanks

I ate loads of fish and didn't worry about it as we have family from Sweden and it's positively encouraged there

Do and eat what you are comfortable with that mo anyway

i think restriction just to oily fish...

It's really only tuna where you are meant to count the servings per week, and a few (very uncommon) things like swordfish that you aren't meant to have at all. No need to worry about white fish, or smaller oily fish like mackerel either.

No I wouldn't worry about it at all. As McDonald says, it's not like everyone in Scandinavia has something wrong with their babies because of their fish consumption. If anything they seem a lot more healthy than us.

I always thought it was utter rubbish when they go on about avoiding spicy foods when breast feeding too, how on earth does everyone in India manage, where most people are breast fed.

They make it up as they go along if you ask me.

Enjoy your cod :-)

I think you should limit some types of fish due to mercury (?) but I think you'd have to eat an awful lot.
