Bathing positions

As a slight extension of the lying on your back topic, what do people do when they get in the bath? I only have baths occasionally (I do shower the rest of the time though! ) but the baby seems to get very distressed the moment I lie back, kicking and wriggling like crazy. The water is barely more than lukewarm so it can be the temperature causing the upset. The baby reacts in a similar way if I lie on my back anyway, so I've been careful to sleep on my side. Anyone else have this and have you given up on baths?

I gave up on baths when the effort of levering myself out outweighed the relaxation when I was in

NB kicking and wriggling does not mean the baby is distressed - it might mean it's having fun!

We don't have a shower (not a proper one, just a handheld number attached to the taps - not my choice BTW, I really miss a shower!), so I've been bathing all through my pg (currently 31+4wks).
My baby does wiggle quite a bit in the bath, but I assumed he was enjoying the water sloshing about over the bump. I do lay back for a few minutes - I think the water supports any weight which might push on my back so I don't think it's the same as lying back in bed for example.

What is lovely about bathing is having the water quite deep and lolling about on my front / side - I get the support of the water, and for 20 mins a day don't feel like my abdomen has been taken over by a concrete bollard.

I was just going to say that the baby might like being in the bath - mine always wriggles when I am doing something nice and relaxing, be it a bath or having a massage - so I don't think it's a bad sign!

latristesse either you are a lot more petite than me or you have a massive bath tub - any attempt by me to 'loll about' on my front or side would almost certainly result in the fire brigade being called out to extract me!!!

Lol at gingerkirsty

The baby is quite a wriggler and I'm used to him/her waking up and deciding to do energetic gymnastics, but these movements are very frantic, like it's struggling to escape through the side of the bump, and don't let up until I've changed my position.
