I just go0t out of hospital today after being admitted last thursday with high bp.. it is now under control with the meds.. Highest reading was 190/100..
I am 36+4wks pg and wondering just how much you would do when you get home.. DH is wrapping me up in cotton wool which is nice, but i am used to being the one running around cleaning etc and looking after our three children..
I know i should just enjoy relaxing and put my feet up but then I feel guilty and weak for not doing things that I normally do..

Hi 3plus1, bumping for you.

Sorry to read about your bp - I really don't know what what to say. I would say take it easy and take advantage of DH's concern, even if it is hard for you to change your ways!

Thanks flying cloud xx

I am taking it easy I have said i wont carry the washing up and down three flights to the cellar that they are to put it in the washroom, I will wash and dry then fold then someone else can carry the clothes back up.. I have DD (13yrs old) doing the hoovering on a night, and DH doing the dishwasher.. I dont trust them to clean the kitchen poperly so I am cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, but getting them to lift the mop bucket.
The thing is cause i want to nest... I have said i will make al ist of the things I want doing then DH FIL and DD can do them.. I will help but I dont want to push myself, just not sure.. And I was interested in what others have done, whether they have carried on as normal, or stopped doing everything..

OMFG I cannot believe you are really asking this!

Just stop and rest!!

Sounds like you have lots of offers of help and if the bathroom or kitchen is not done to your standards does that really matter.

My raised BP led to pre eclampsia and believe me you do not want that! Even if it is not pre eclampsia the last thing you want is to go into labour and those first few exhausting weeks already tired.

You are so nearly there only a few more days/ weeks....

All the best

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 21/01/2010 09:52

You need to rest. Its only for a couple more weeks. If you don't rest you risk pre-eclampsia which is life threatening for you and your baby.

gingerkirsty · 21/01/2010 09:59

By resting up you are looking after DC4 and giving him/her the best chance to emerge at the right time - so don't do anything remotely strenuous. In the long run you will never regret not having the kitchen quite as clean as your normal standards, but you would regret being rushed into hospital and having an EMC.
Take care!

fernie3 · 21/01/2010 10:05

rest! I had this with all my pregnancies and I was told firmly to rest - with my last baby they just admitted me for the week before she was born. Just sit down watch tv and eat nice food is my advice espeically if you want to stay out of hospital for as long as possible!.

fernie3 · 21/01/2010 10:06

and please stop cleaning the bathroom it cant be that dirty!

MumNWLondon · 21/01/2010 10:37

sorry, you need to have bedrest and stop thinking about cleaning... you need to stop doing anything so you stay out of hospital and stop BP from going any higher and reduce risks to you and your baby.

If you can afford it get some cleaning support if the cleaning is really that important.

bearcrumble · 21/01/2010 10:56

Totally agree with the others, just rest as much as possible. Do NOT do any cleaning/nesting. You need to stay as healthy as possible and if you do anything physical it can up the BP.

What is it now out of interest? Mine is high and I am going to the hospital twice a week and taking labetalol. Mine is about 128/88 with the tablets.

threeplusone · 21/01/2010 11:33

Thank you all.. I will defo put my feet up and relax.
Yesterday it was 110/75 I am on 250g 3times a day of Methyldopa. I am seeing the mw twice aweek and have to go to the hospital once a week.
Whilst in hospital I was also on magnesium, but they never put that on my discharge perscxription, but MW said it is my choice re taking them as they help stop muscle cramps and early labour.. so DH has gone to get me some today.

Thank you all again for your responses, I know I need to rest and as I said I will but it will be hard.. I think I will make a list of the things I want doing then DH and FIL , DD can do them on anight when the boys have gone to bed.

Hey - you can always takes this as a good way to start delegating from the sofa so that when DC4 arrives you have everyone in a fantastic routine and you can rest and recuperate knowing that they've had a bit of practice on the domestic side.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 21/01/2010 14:08

Hi 3+1 - yep, I'm with flyingcloud. Yours and the baby's health is numero uno priority, but if a messy house is adding to your stress levels, then get the staff(!) organised while you take it easy (and be very lovely to them about what a wonderful job they're doing and how helpful they're being - a bit of praise for domestic duties undertaken never seems to go amiss when it comes to fellas, IMO..!)
