I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow and wanted to start drinking it, When did you start? Also when can you change from the tea to the tablets?

I took both the tea and the tablets when I was pregnant with DS from 35 weeks- labour with him was only 6 1/2 hours, with a 19 minute pushing stage. No idea if the two are connected, but I'm definitely going to use it again this time around!

About 5 mins before I stopped drinking it.

It tastes like mouldy hay.

Just come back from Glucose test and checked with my midwife who said 34 weeks for starting it so will wait the extra weeks after all........

My midwife said to drink it from 36 weeks. Am 38 weeks now, and love the taste of it so won't mind tooooo much if it doesn't do anything.
As mentioned before, it has to be raspberry leaf tea, not just raspberry tea.

Hi there, I'm reading a book called the 'Gentle Birth Method' and I think it suggests to start drinking it from 32 weeks. Although as the previous posters have mentioned it doesn't bring on contractions, just helps to tone things up!
If you get a chance to read the book there are some interesting tips on how to make things a little easier when the big day arrives.

I drank it from 36 weeks with DS2 - had a 5hr induced labour that so far was my best/easiest birth, he was born at 40+2.

This time I have been taking the tablets since 37 weeks, I have the 6 times a day ones mentioned. I'm hoping they help the birth to go a bit quicker/ easier like last time. Certainly not helping me to actually go into labour though - I'm currently 40+4!

First labour - I think I drank the tea and that one was at 38+5 and went to emcs (fetal distress) at 9 cm after about 9 hours of labour.

2nd labour - I drank it along with squaw vine tea (from Neals Yard and I think that I must have read about it being beneficial somewhere). This labour was a drug free homebirth at 38 +2, approximately 8 hours with the second stage being 25 minutes.

3rd labour - I drank both squaw vine and raspberry leaf tea and took raspberry leaf tablets. 38+3 drug free homebirth in approximately 6 hours with the second stage being 4 minutes with only 2 pushes.

With all three pregnancies, I had quite strong but not painful, Braxton Hicks for about 2-3 weeks before giving birth and I think I started drinking the tea from around 36 weeks. However, of course, I can't be certain if this had anything to do with the raspberry leaf at all.

Although I quite liked the taste of the tea, I found the tablets quite good to fall back on as I couldn't really drink more than two cups a day due to my very weak bladder at that stage!

really encouraging to hear the positive results although sorry about your first labour LHmum.

I'm a first timer and 37 weeks, was drinking one cup a day fron 33 weeks then 2 cups for past two weeks. Now upping it to as many as possible 3 or 4 a day. I didn't like it at first but now I love it.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 21/01/2011 01:58

I started drinking it at 30 weeks ( due to some misinformation oops!) and then switched to capsules at 34 weeks...

I totally think it did nothing! I went 12 days overdue, had 2 failed inductions and ended up with a C section!

I drank it with ds (only got the 1dc) for the shortest time possible and the minimum it recommended because it tasted so YUCK!

Ds was a (planned) home delivery and arrived in less than 2 hours. No gas and air (wasn't time for it anyhow!) but a tens machine.

I recommended it to my sister who took it for her first ds. He would have arrived a lot sooner (under 6 hours) if she hadn't said no to being cut. He arrived as soon as she finally agreed.

Got mine at Holland and Barret (was 12 years ago now mind you)
