Hello all - I am 36+1 and have just come back from the doctors. While I was there I told her I have a constant pressure in my pelvis - it isn't like Braxton Hicks or anything, it is constant and makes it hard to walk, roll over, sit down, stand up.. Etc! I just really wanted to know what I could do to ease it. She said it was a sign the baby was ready to come out, cervix was opening, baby was lower, etc. I said, joking, "Oh God, he's not going to be really early is he" and she said, quite seriously, "Yes, he probably will be - I hope you have your bag packed". She said judging by the size of him he was about 7.5 - 8lb and that when the pelvis pressure begins, it is pretty much any minute now.
REally??? Is this true?? I had sort of been cruising along because all five of my mums babies were late, my sister had one late and one early but the early arrival was due to complications. So I assumed my baby boy would be late. I am freaking out!!!
I am just venting really, as I am really feeling a bit panicked - I realise I haven't really asked for any advice here!

Sounds like you've had a bit of a shock !

I wouldn't worry to much, you've only got 6 days to go untill your classed as term

Babies born at 36 weeks do brilliantly but the chances are you'll still be pregnant in 2 weeks so try not to worry about it to much.

Pack a bag though just incase

don't worry to much. the baby will come when its ready and you are over 36 weeks. less chance of complications. i thought all first babys were late and my 1st was 37+5 and 2nd ds was 40+2!!!!!!! good lck and pack a bag!!!

I was told same a week ago Monday. Head completely engaged cervix 1cm dilated. Same pressure you describe. Was 36+4 then. Now 37+5 and still no sign. So maybe don't panic too much baby will appear when ready.

Thanks all! I have calmed down a little bit now, I was just really surprised before! I have been blessed with a complication-free pregnancy (morning sickness, weepiness etc aside - have had all that, but no health issues)so I guess I just assumed it would continue in that way.
So - bag is packed, confidence has returned a little bit, but really, Thandeka, I hope I have a similar situation to you - I really want this baby to be fully cooked, fat and bouncy when he comes out!

Yes, do try not to worry. The medical profession (and anyone else with an opinion!) tell you all sorts of things when you are pregnant. Just relax and take it all with apinch of salt.
