Hi Eveyone

I was told on 18th December that my pregnancy was coming to an end at nearly 11weeks. 21st December and woken up with really bad pains and a heavy bleed! So heavy that it was obvious that the miscarriage was taking place. Its 16th January and i am stil l bleeding?!?!

I have been to gynaecology last week who told me that my hcg hormone was 34 so it was now coming to the last stages. This was last monday and i am still bleeding, has anyone else experiance this??

So concerned that something serious might be wrong with me.

Hi Kayz, sorry to hear you are going through this. I'm sorry i can't really help as never experienced this before, i had a D&C after my miscarriage. If you are concerned i would call your GP, out of hours or the early pregnancy unit if you have one near by.

Sorry not much help but didn't want your post to go unnoticed.

Good luck

Really sorry to hear you are going through this.

The same thing happened to me (mmc at 12 weeks) and I had 5 episodes of heavy bleeding over a period of about 4-5 weeks, all of which resulted in a trip to A&E. Each time, they were deemed to be complete. Looking back, It was an appaling way to be treated, but I think they were short-staffed and I only ever saw junior doctorsw who mostly seemed too embarrassed to look me in the eye

My hcg levels also remained high, as it is possible that some tissue which does not come away can cause you to continue to make the pregnancy hormone Miserable, isn't it.

I would asked to be scanned to make sure your miscarriage is complete, as my final trip to hospital resulted in an emergency ERPC and several blood transfusions as the blood loss was so great after five weeks.
This also happened to me over the christmas period, so I know how horrible it is, and hope you are being kind to yourself.

It's horrible for it to go on for such a long time, and I really feel for you.

I know it really probably isn't a great deal of comfort to you right now, but all this happened to me, and two months later I was pregnant with my DD and am currently pregnant with DC2, so far with absolutely no problems.

Hope you are better soon.x

Hi Kayz,

I have to say I'm a bit stunned that your healthcare providers don't seem to have offered you much support or advice eg what to expect around this. I'm really sorry that you are going through this trauma hug I had an mmc in Nov 09 so I know what its like xx

Hi Kayz, so sorry to hear you're still going through this. I agree with nellymoo - can the gynae team give you an internal scan to check what's going on?

I was still bleeding on and off after 4 weeks, the scan showed my womb lining hadn't reduced - the mmc was still incomplete. In the end I opted for an ERPC as I was just fed up with it going on so long. They discovered some tissue which I think must have been preventing the lining coming away properly.

The ERPC experience was so much better than I ever thought it would be and once the light bleeding stopped after a few days felt the relief of it all finally being over.

Hope you get some answers and feel much better soon.

xxx
