I dont know how i will have the strength if i go now into labour. Apart from this the baby is very big (which doesnt matter ) but head is 37 mm AND position of baby is very unfavourabe and I was told by midwife that labour will be long and more painful. Now I have this cold and no energy at all.

I know i am being childish now but I do NOT have the strength to do anyting leave alone going into a long and painful labour. Was also not able to sleep due to pains and ackes of cold.

Sorry for going on....

I think it's best to ask your pharmacist in the Chemist, just in case. But I think it's just paracetamol you are allowed.

Someone I know had a very bad cold and went into labour and they said it was very strange but all cold symptoms just disappeared and they were fine. So perhaps that will cheer you some what, but keep resting while you can and get as much sleep as you can and take your vitamins to strengthen your body.

Hope you get better soon x

You poor thing. I am getting a bad cold too... but only 30 weeks and it still feels miserable so I feel for you.

I read of a mixture of honey, turmeric, lemon and ginger on here which I have been taking and does seem to help.

I think the advice to rest as much as possible right now is very wise and to hope that your body will just take over in labour.

ooh Jaaa drink some honey and lemon hot drinks, paracetmol and thats pretty much all you can do!

I am in exactly the same boat although my problem is now layrngitis which has had me in tears to. 39 weeks pregnant to

Sure you will recover fast enough and as for your midwife predicting your labor....... how does she know?

teaandcakeplease · 15/01/2010 09:35

Do you think some of your problem sleeping is actually due to the fact your silly midwife has scared the pants off of you with talking about long and painful labours?

Just take the drugs honey on the day and you'll be fine

Murtette · 15/01/2010 17:43

If you ask in Boots, they do have something which you can take even though you're pregnant for a sore throat. I know because I had a cough & cold at 38 weeks but, unfortunately, I can't remember what its called.

Hiya sorry to hear you're feeling horrid.... I'm 39 weeks too and posted a thread earlier this week on mon cos was full of cold, had sore throat and generally really felt shite and really didn't feel up to going in to labour but - good news - my cold only lasted 2/3 days max.... Unfortunately Can't have any proper cold medicines (i'd have killed for sudofed) but i've rested as much as poss and just had plenty of fruit and veg (lots more than normal) and used olbas oil so i can get a (relatively) reasonable night sleep and today i feel back to normal again.... Hope this'll work for you too

I am 32 weeks and have a dreadful cold and feeling pretty sorry for myself. I have no energy to deal with my 3 year old ds.

I had a look online last night and there isn't anything really to take except making up lemon/ honey drinks vapour rubs and paracetemol. Like others have said eating lots of fruit and veg etc

I am sure you will be better before the big day and hope it goes well - sounds like your midwife ought to think before she speaks scaring you like that - hope you prove her wrong
