Has anyone bled throughout pregnancy?

I am now 21 weeks pregnant with twins and have been bleeding every day since 9 weeks. At 9 weeks I had a very heavy one-off bleed, gushing out of me and soaking through my jeans down to my knees, and haven't had a single day with no bleeding since.

Last night I was sat in bed and felt a few gushes, which are normal now for me, and when I went to the toilet I gushed blood then passed a clot the size of the palm of my hand.

Both babies seemed ok at my last scan but I'm just wondering if this is going to continue right through til the end. My consultant just says there is nothing they can do and basically to put up with it.

bumping for you as it must be awful.

I had a bad bleed at 7.3 weeks (but I thought I was only 4w) and a scan confirmed baby was fine.

12 wk scan next fri but I am v scared.

It is very scary but presumably you are being monitored more closely due to it being twins so they'd pick up on anything wrong pretty quick?

I bled throughout both pregnancies, sometimes old blood spotting, sometimes fresh blood. I had many, many scans. It was put down to a cervical erosion both times (I had been on the pill prior to concieving). I also had severe hyperemesis, and I am convinced that it played a part, too. Both my sons are at school as I type

I did it with both DS1 and DS2. It was better at the end of the pregnancies than at the beginning but it did make it all very stressful.

I spent a lot of time getting scans, although that tailed off as I got further along. Once they were big enough to move around, and for the MW to be able to hear the heartbeat clearly I was less worried about having to see they were ok, iyswim.

I never felt bad about going into A&E to get checked out though, and they always took bleeding very seriously and were happy for me to go in and be looked over.

FWIW I never had a definitive diagnosis for it.

I am 21+5 and having the same experience. Although it did slow down a lot at 19 weeks and it is now just spotting every now and again. I have now ruled out most causes - including cervical erosion, and also being told that its one of those things. My midwife has a friend who went through the same throughout her pregnancy and went on to have a perfectly straightforward home birth and healthy baby. I've largely stopped worrying and having also had a mc the amount of pain is very different so I will just put up with it. Easier said than done though

I've no experiance of it myself but know my mum bleed heavily throughout pregnancy with my brother and he was a very healthy 10lb+ when born. That was 26 years ago so i am sure with all the advances that have been made in that time you will be fine.

Yep, I'm 17 weeks and had v v heavy bleeding at 6, 10, 12 and 13 weeks - passed a huge clot at 6 weeks. have had 2 miscarriages but all Ok so far - being scanned every 2 weeks because the bleeding has been from the placenta, but it's stopped and clotted - just old brown blood coming out now. Consultant "cautiously optimistic" of good outcome.

Thanks everyone. I just thought I'd come back and update a little.

Yesterday I had my anomoly scan (not sure why it is so late at almost 22 weeks) and it showed that both babies are growing well and that the little girl has grown a penis and is now a little boy! - so two boys instead of one of each which I had previously been told. I don't mind regardless, as long as they come out healthy.

Unfortunately the scan showed low fluid levels around twin 1, and a speculum exam confirmed that my waters around him are leaking. This explains the gushes I feel a few times a day, particularly after laying down. I'd noticed that the blood was often very watery and feel an idiot I didn't put two and two together.

The gushes started at around 18 weeks so I am assuming my waters broke around that time. The good news is that there are a couple of pockets of fluid around baby but the drs and midwives have told me to remain realistic and that the chances are higher than ever that babies may not make it. My last babies were born at 27 and 28 weeks and was so hoping to make it to 30-32 weeks this time.

I've been told if I go into labour they won't be trying to stop it which is heartbreaking. I hadn't realised how much I want these two little people until now. I hardly slept last night worrying about what might happen.

sorry to hear that it wasn't all good news. all my dcs have been born prem (2 x 31 weekers and a 27 weeker). with the 27 weeker i had bleeding pretty much every day and in the end i think the bleeding irritated the uterus so much i went into labour. as you no doubt know, it's no picnic but dd2 is fine now.
i also had a pregnancy where my waters went at about 17 weeks - didn't realise it at the time - i had been bleeding constantly for weeks and it had just seemed like a heavier bleed than normal. sadly i had no fluid left around the baby - we eventually lost him at 21 weeks. if you're already at 22 weeks and there's still fluid then you must cling onto hope - make sure you press for steroids as soon as possible (i know some hospitals won't do it pre 24 weeks / whatever they deem as viability). i had steroids with all 3 and none had breathing problems. will they keep you in hospital? with dd2 (my 27 weeker) i was in hospital from 22 weeks and although there was no treatment as such, i'm sure the enforced bed rest kept her in longer than otherwise. are they checking for infection regularly as well?
it is a horrible situation to be in - i wish you all the best and hope your little boys hang on in there for a few weeks yet.

Oh poor poor you.

I really hope your story has a happy ending.

My nephew was born at 31 wks and my sister had been in hospital from around 28 weeks.Happy healthy 8yr old now.

Push for all the help they can give you. Only a few more weeks and your boys could make it.

Any1 experienced bleeding with loads of clot being passed, i mean really large! Then very painful contractions and continuous bleeding for over 3 weeks, plus reduced stomach size, and went on to have an healthy pregnancy?
