Really weepy when my DH leaves

I'm 38.5 and I'm off in for an elective section on Wednesday.

My Dh is currently working from home a lot and he is being really great, looking after our Dds, getting DD1 from school in the snow etc etc..

But every so often he has to go out. One day hast week he had to actually go into work, and today he has gone to the football, but as soon as I'm here myself I get really weepy and want to cry (I'm not ehre completely alone, I'm here with Dd1 and DD2). He has his phone, if anything "happens" I can get hold of him and go and get him. Nothing is likely to "happen" there are no signs of that at all. My Mum is only 15 mins away in the car and is my childcare when I do go is so its not like I'm abandoned and have anything to worry about...but as soon as I'm here alone with the girls I want to cry..

Awwwww honey with my both my pregnancies just watching the news made me cry. You've got a lot on your plate with an elective very soon and two children already to take care of.

If it was me I'd do exactly the same. Have some chocolate and wrap up under a quilt.

Sending you hugs x

Ah bless you darling! I am the same - I'm completely pathetic! My DH was working from home for a few days this week... then, when he said he had to try and go in to the office yesterday I burst into tears! Be nice to yourself - it's completely natural to want to be looked after in your current hormonal state.

Big hugs darling. Good luck for Weds! x

I really feel for you. my DP is in Australia and returning in 3 weeks. I'm now 28 weeks pregnant and been here on my own since 10 weeks. I am a mess if he calls or if he doesn't. He doesn't understand at all. But I would be exactly the same if he were here. I am just big emotional ball of tears and snot. I am told it is normal.

Best of luck with elective.

Thank you girls - I survived the afternoon without being too pathetic really......I am quite stressed and worried about the section but its hard to talk about and verbalise

Thanks loads for the sympathy

Is this your first C section?

Bathsheba · 10/01/2010 19:22

No - is my 3rd. I've had 2 emergancy sections and this is an elective one thatI have to have - no debate on other methods of delviery at all because I'm so scarred and scar-tissued from the previous ones.

Awww I wanted to ask before I launched into trying to reassure you. So you've done it all before bless you.

Best of luck for Wednesday hon, hope you've got some help lined up for the first few weeks x

Bathsheba · 10/01/2010 22:51

The fact I've done it before makes it both easy and hard - I know how painful it is and trying to move that first time, and standing up and things...and trying to sit upright to feed...

I've never had an elective before - I've had 2 emergancies so the one reassuring thing is that I'm not going to have gone through labour for many hours first this time.

I had a very traumatic time the last time and they had problems when they were putting me back together - all of which I was aware of because I was awake (I had a spinal) - they haven't decided yet what anaesthesia to give me this time becuase of the time it will take - I'm really torn, I want to be awake for the baby being born but I needed counselling and everything after the last time and I don;t want to know of any problems/issues etc...

Awww honey! My last baby was born by C section as an emergency, but no where near as traumatic as yours, you poor thing!

You've got a lot on your plate sweetie, I hope you've just got plenty of help and support for after x

I'll be looking forward to hearing on here about your new baby in due course.
