Hi all,

Im 37+3 today and due to see midwife tommorrow and podiatrist today. I was going to ask to see them both today to save 2 trips (they both at same place). But have woken this morning to very very bad snow and there is no way at all cars can be driven. No buses are running etc.

The hospital is about 5/10 min drive away but i could walk it in about 45 mins or so. But its up and down big hills all the way. DH would walk with me so I would not be alone.

I have protein in my urine last week promting panic about pre eclampsia which is why i am seeing midwife this week to get it all checked out. Babies movements have reduced but i think its because hes so squished in there. (I have felt him wriggling about). Also he was back to back so i imagine we need to know how he is lying now.

Would you walk or would you stay home?? I just dont know what to do.

Thanks for your advice!

gosh, that's a tough one...I suppose if your DH is going to walk with you, it might be a good idea to go in and see both people, and set your mind at rest about the pre-ec, and position etc.

My sis is due in about 6 weeks...if she was the one asking I would say "go" .....probably.....

sorry!

Stay at home! Ring the midwife and go with whatever they advise. She might decide to come to you instead of you walking and risking falling.

A 45 minute walk in normal conditions could take more than twice that on the uncleared, icy, treacherous paths you're likely to be walking on.

Much as all the complaints are about how the roads are not being dealt with, in fact the pavements are far worse, and very dangerous if you have any mobility issues (which at 37 weeks, essentially you do as a fall is v bad news).

I think I would skip podiatrist but keep midwife app by car.

I'm 39 weeks today, so commiserate with the trapped in body and house feeling

Hmm think I will wait till 8ish then give them a call and see what they say.

Problem will be getting to midwife by car or the midwife getting to us as we live on an estate and I was housbound for an entire week over christmas due to the ice (we dont get gritted)

I could always pee in a pot and ask DH to take it to hosp for me lol but thats a bit cheeky!

is it any nearer to your GP? if so try and go there instead and GP can check urine and BP.
