Hi all,

The lovely ladies on the August 2010 thread have had me banging on about this for a few days and have given me reassurance but I wanted to widen the net as most of them are currently suffering bad sickness and so am slightly worried that at 6 weeks + 2 days I've not had any yet.

Any of you out there also not had any sickness at this early stage? Thanks x

I didn't have any sickness, at all, throughout my whole pregnancy (now 35 weeks). Consider yourself lucky! The first trimester is hard enough without adding sickness to the mix... Not everyone gets MS, you are one of the lucky ones

CrazyPregnant · 05/01/2010 13:39

Hi Boos, I had terible sickness with my first 2 pregnancies but not a single episode with this pregnancy and am now 33 weeks pregnant with a very active baby boy so try not to worry- every pregnancy is different, also make the most of not being sick...with my first 2 the sickness didn't start until 7.5-8 weeks!

Boos75 · 05/01/2010 13:43

Thanks ladies!

I love MN - so great to hear from others who have been in the same situation. Have booked early scan for next Weds (£120 and as I'm a worrier I think it's worth it for me) so will remember your replies when I have my panic moments until then. x

Consider yourself very, very lucky.

But also don't speak too soon - your time may still come...

SmallShips · 05/01/2010 14:00

I had sickness (mild) with my first, non with my second and non with this one, am now 25 weeks with DD2. Don't panic.

Greatgoing · 05/01/2010 14:00

I always respond to these threads and I always say the same thing so sorry for repeating myself. I have 3 sick free pregnancies, though I have suffered with headaches. Vomiting only affects 1/3 of people, so it is my no means the only pregnancy-defining symptom (although Hollywood would have you believe every woman spends her pregnancy retching down the loo).

I don't think a symptom free pregnancy is 'lucky'; it can be lonely and very worrying, especially when everyone else around you seems to be passing out or generously providing you with tales of how they were sick on the tube every two minutes. One person even told me my pregnancy was less 'viable' due to my lck of sickness.

It is simply down to how your body reacts to the hormones it produces; and you , like me, and 2/3 of pregnant women don't react with sickness.

Don't wait for it to happen, because it may well not hapopen, or you may feel very slightly nauseous, or indeed be sidetracked by the million other symptoms that are not discussed as much; headaches, constipation, depression, piles! Or you may just feel fit and well.

Either way, you are no less pregnant, feminine, healthy or normal by not having any morning sickness. all the best for your pregnancy!

Yorky · 05/01/2010 14:24

Boos75 - my first MN post was to ask if it was normal not to feel pregnant! He will be 3 at the end of this month and I was sick more in labour than I was through the whole pregnancy!
I am now 21wks with my 3rd and don't think I have thrown up a dozen times between them - but I don't like to tell people that as my friends seem to get my share of the sickness as well as theirs
Enjoy it and I hope it stays that way for you

Boos75 · 05/01/2010 14:51

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. You have made me feel so much better.

No sickness what so ever with dd who is 3 today and again not even so much as a wave with bump 39+5. Both have the same dad though I had 2 MC with previous partner at just after 9 weeks and had no sickness with either of those. Not that I wanted to feel or be sick but for me it seems to be totally normal.

Good luck and congratulations!!

foxyjbro99 · 05/01/2010 14:54

crazy pregnant - were your 1st 2 girls?

thedollshouse · 05/01/2010 14:58

With ds1 I had no sickness at all, I didn't even find out I was pregnant until I was 8 weeks.

With this pregnancy I had no symptoms at all and spent the first 12 weeks convinced that I had lost the baby. Got to 12 weeks and all of the pregnancy symptoms appeared at once, tiredness, sickness, needing to go to the loo all the time.

It is perfectly normal not to have any symptoms in early pregnancy, in fact from talking to friends it would appear that the majority of them didn't have any sickness.

Spirael · 05/01/2010 15:01

Just to offer you a slightly different opinion, I felt absolutely fine until approximately my 7th week. Then 'morning' sickness started, beginning as a mild unsettled feeling in the afternoons until by 9 weeks it was pretty much a constant companion during my waking hours. Though I haven't actually thrown up more than a couple of times.

So don't panic, there's still time left for morning sickness to start up if it's going to strike. Though hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones who is spared it.

barkfox · 05/01/2010 15:05

Boos, I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant with my 1st, and have had absolutely no sickness at all so far (and am hugely reassured by Greatgoing's post!).

Scans at 6 weeks and 8 weeks were perfectly fine, strong HB, right measurements etc. Fingers crossed for 12 weeks scan.

I think people tend not to post about having no sickness - partly cos we only tend to flag up what's wrong with us, not what isn't, IYSWIM. So a glance at a messageboard might give the impression it's a lot more common than it really is. (Also, I imagine for women who have awful MS and are really suffering, it can't be much fun reading about women who are fine, so non-vommers might 'hold back' a bit.)

I agree with Greatgoing too that telly and film tend to use a vomiting woman as a universal shorthand for 'pregnant'. I guess it's easier to dramatise than piles...

sybilfaulty · 05/01/2010 15:07

Boos, I did but my next door neighbour had none and even did the London to Brighton Cycle ride whilst 12 w pg with her first! Feeling crap, though common, is not compulsory.

Many congratulations

KarinG · 05/01/2010 15:07

Hello,
I'm about 6w5d and haven't felt sick either, but then i didnt get MS with my DD either. So, i'm another example of someone who doesnt get MS (although perhaps i am speaking too early for this time around!!).
Best of luck with the scan - it's hard to believe there is anything there until you see the baby on screen!
K.

dawntigga · 05/01/2010 15:12

I didn't get any sickness at all throughout the pregnancy - indegestion towards the end was about the sum of it.

nulgirl · 05/01/2010 15:35

I too didn't have any sickness with either pregnancy. I think I once felt a bit queezy with dd but that could have been something that I ate though. I did however suffer from crushing tiredness which garners less sympathy from people.

Do you normally have quite a strong constitution? I have a strong stomach and don't normally get d&v bugs. I assumed this was why I avoided ms.

Spirael · 05/01/2010 15:48

Having a strong constitution versus stomach bugs doesn't necessarily help, nulgirl. I hadn't been sick since I was a child, until I got pregnant! I'm glad you managed to avoid MS, though.

Totally agree about the crushing tiredness (also kicked in at around 7 weeks!) and with people being surprisingly unsympathetic, however. I spent my entire time either working or asleep for weeks, and no-one seemed to understand how frustrating it was to not have any free time to do anything!

First pg, 33 weeks and still barely had a symptom yet apart from shocking tiredness to about 15 weeks. Oh and the massive belly sitting in front of me!

So don't worry, I started to read the pregnancy boards on here early on and there was one thread where someone was being repeatedly reassured that bad morning sickness meant more chance of a viable pregnancy - did not help at all when I was sat there worrying, so I didn't come back until 12 week scan showed all was fine (20 week scan was spot on too).

bilingualfamily · 05/01/2010 15:54

None and both girls. I worried too; both gorgeous and v healthy. We are just all different.

Aussieng · 05/01/2010 16:02

Oh Boos - I feel horrible now after my comments yesterday about people breezing through their pregnancies on the Aug thread I'm a grumpy sickly moron. I knew as soon as I had said something that I would regret it - it was not aimed at anyone currently going through pg symptoms or worrying about lack of symptoms, my irritation was aimed at my snapped back into size 8 shape never felt sick for a day friends all of whom have adorable dc now and seem to be less than understanding about the fact that I'm not up for EVERYTHING at the moment. If it's any consolation I'm 11 weeks now and did not start feeling sick until over 6 weeks but anyway hope you are reassured from being on here even if you never have any sickness x

Boos75 · 05/01/2010 20:38

Please don't be daft Aussieng I wasn't offended in anyway at all! We all have our worries and concerns whatever symptoms we have/don't have. I should have said I have other delightful symptoms - have put on quite a bit of weight already both baby but mainly Christmas; I am spotty and look a bit ropey; have wind and feel exhausted. I also cannot stopping peeing and am drinking lots but am constantly dehydrated. So definitely not going to look like a pregnant yummy mummy!

I posted a very similar question a couple of weeks ago!

I am 7 weeks now and still feel fine. My only symptoms are being a bit tired (but not crushingly so) and having sensitive boobs and a few spots.

I've been going to the gym and pretty much carrying on as normal so far, trying to make the most of it.

A girl I work with is pregnant and she hasn't had any sickness either. She is 14 weeks and is still playing netball once a week.

gizzy1973 · 05/01/2010 23:11

Have had no sickness at all and now 40 weeks but wasnt too worried as i knew my mum was the same
