14 weeks, will consultant listen to heartbeat tomorrow?

Have a consultant appointment in the morning. Had an early scan due to some bleeding with this pregnancy at 8 weeks 2 days. They could date pregnancy at this scan so was not offered a 12 week one.

Feel a bit unsure about going in to discuss c section tomorrow with consultant when I don't feel i've had reassurance for ages that baby is ok.

Will they listen to heart beat? Had a missed miscarrage before so this pregnancy feels nerve wracking!

I dont see why they wouldnt, esp if you ask you would specifically like them to.

Good luck! Ive got my first scan tomorrow and im really nervous.

You can ask but they will often not until 16 week as not to worry you even more if they can't hear anything. My midwife tried at 14weeks and didn't hear anything at I am apparently a little 'chunky' for hearing before then. Also consultants don't normally do things like that they just have a chat about why you are there.

my mw listened to heartbeat at 15 week appointment, my 1st so wasn't sure if it would be offered or not and didn't ask but just seemed to be routine

I asked the MW whether we could try and hear the heartbeat at my last appointment, when I was 10+5. She managed to find it successfully, which was a huge relief! Though I did have to promise beforehand that I wouldn't worry too much if she couldn't find it, as it was very early days.

I've not seen a consultant so I can't advice whether or not they would try and find the heartbeat for you... However to be honest what have you got to lose from asking nicely? Worst the consultant will say is no!

They've never listened to heartbeat at my consultant appointments, but definitely worth asking. Sure they'd be happy to have a listen for you to put your mind at rest, if not the doctor then a midwife at the clinic might be able to do it for you.
