I am 28 wks with DC2. DH and I have been taliking about needing a double buggy when DC2 comes along. DS1 will be 2.5yrs and although likes to walk, won't always walk far and tends to be a bolter!! Have tried a friends buggy board but he hated it and ran off.

Thinking practically i may not have a car very often when on maternity leave and so will be walking a lot.

Have looked into a second hand double as i am not sure how long we will use it for.

Any advice? or anyone in the same situation?

really unsure - am i just holding DS back by not allowing him to walk and trying to make things easier for myself?

Have you thought about a sling for the baby and using the buggy you've already got?

was going to say buggy board...
Trouble with double buggies I found is that they are huge and hard work to push. I don't htink there is much of a way round this, you just need to go and test some of them then look for a second hand model, then you won't be so gutted if you dont use it much!!

I was really reluctant to go down the double buggy route but I'm so glad I did and I never regretted it for a minute. I had the same age gap as you, and also found my older one liked walking, but it was good to have the option. I did use a buggy board later, but found it so much heavier to push and much more cumbersome. And sling / buggy combo also cumbersome.

Maybe the key was getting the right double buggy. I bought a 2nd hand nipper double which was really fab. Extemely light, easy to push, and plenty of room for shopping and other crap underneath.

And occassionaly the double affords you the magic 30/40minutes when they both actually fall asleep at the same time...

Good luck with your pregnancy.

I found that although DS (similar age) did not need the double that it was a lifesaver when he was being rather awkward shall we say. I could strap him in and go without trying to reign him in and push a buggy as well.

Sling works well also but if I sat down for a coffee or something I kind of wanted to take the baby off and put them somewhere and I couldnt. Also if you are trying to be quite hands on (read bundle older child in somewhere) or picking things up the older child had dropped, helping them on the toilet or something it can be a bit awkward.
