Pregnancy test confusion?

I did an Asda pregnancy test this morning, where two vertical lines means pregnant, and one means not pregnant. A vertical line appeared in the control window, meaning that the test had worked, but there was also a faint horizontal line in the other window.

Is this likely to mean pregnancy, or is it a problem with the test? This isn't covered in the instructions. Any advice/experience gratefully received!

did you have a vertical line in the non control window as well?

No, it was a horizontal line in the non control window, but very faint.

i would say it sounds like a dodgy test - do you have another one you could do?

Yes, I was going to wait until tomorrow morning to do it though. Just a bit paranoid as I really don't want to be pregnant again.

It's worth phoning the helpline (should be included on the instructions) - I had a dodgy test recently where no line appeared at all - the control window was blank. When i phoned up the helpline they sent free replacement tests, so worth reporting it's faulty.

Most of the preg tests I've taken say in the instructions that no matter how faint the line is it counts, so my guess is you are but the best bet is to go to the doctor and get them to test. good luck and I hope it's the result you want

In the instructions of the tests I took (a Danish brand) it said to ignore horizontal lines, it's only vertical lines that count. Something about the dye moving along the test window that can make the horizontal lines

I would say phone the helpline and ask, and do another test in a couple of days, to be sure. Hope you get the result you want.

I had this with a Tesco test. It had a faint line but going the wrong way. It did fade to nothing after a few minutes though and it's done it on all the tesco tests I've done.

Thanks for the information! I did another test yesterday morning which was negative, and then I came on my period anyway, so the horizontal line must have been meaningless.
