Hi all, I'm 35+2 wks and hugely swollen! The swelling just seems to go up every day! Getting up and down the stairs is a nightmare, and i can't even bend or kneel down any more.My DH has to put my socks + shoes on (i had to borrow shoes from my mum as she is 2 sizes bigger!) I rest with my feet up it makes no difference my feet and legs can get worse whilst in bed at night!! I look like a huge puff ball, as its not just my feet, but ankles, calfs, knees, wrists, hands and face!!
Would be very grateful of any advice.

Hello, as long as the doctor / midwife has checked your blood pressure and is not concerned - I would just say be very careful with anything salty. If I ate any salty meal I would gain up to 5lbs over the next day, and then gradually pee it out over the next 2-3 days. I also had a foot spa, and not sure if this helped with swelling but helped me relay.

I remember this bit clearly with DS1, I also has chaffing thighs due to water retention too. (chub-rub eughh!)

The good news was that when he finally arrived I peed and peed and was losing 3lbs a day, and dropped the whole 2 stone of my pregnancy gain in 2 weeks!

Good luck, not long to go now.

Hi Dee, I'm the same I have to tell you but my BP was OK last week, but the midwife advised me not to drink 2 litres of fluid a day and looked shocked that I was consuming so much - but it's my normal. Anyway I am not very active due to SPD and can't walk very far I think this might be a contributing factor to my massive feet and ankles. They do go down slightly overnight if I sleep with about 5 pillows under them, but when I get out of bed and sit downstairs they seem to just come back up again.
I agree with Bunny, as long as your BP has been checked and your midwife has seen you then perhaps it is just pregnancy related swelliing, better to get checked out though. I sympathise with you as at about 20 weeks I couldn't even kneel down, I felt like my thighs were really tight and massive (well they are massive) but unusually tight......
I'm hoping for what Bunny says - giant pees when the baby arrives, maybe I will lose a few stone too.
good luck and let us know how you get on

dandelion tea might help - probably shouldn't have more than a cup a day though
