A long walk got things moving for me - nearly destroyed my bloody pelvis though

sure it isn't just painful bh??

smileyhappypeople · 30/12/2009 19:52

probably is bh. they just seem to be getting very painful, not that regular though. hoping someone might know a miracle way to start labour! wishful thinking and hopefully worth a try!
had slow labour with dd1 at first with irregular contractions, only went to hospital because my mum told me to! things only got moving when midwife examined me and accidentally broke my waters.

acupuncture.rhizome.net.nz/acupressure/induce.aspx

Try the ankle acupressure point. I did it on alternate legs for a minute at a time at 20 minute intervals - I reckon it worked for me and NOTHING worked for my first baby and I hung on for 43 weeks before agreeing to an induction.

I am currently 37+2 with number 3 and spend every evening thinking I might just be going into labour and by the morning everything has calmed down again. I feel your pain

i had this for weeks before DS was born, drove me totally insane.

And when I had my first (DD) exactly the same as you slow labour irregular contractions midwife broke waters during internal examination by mistake and then things got going.

motherofsnortpigs glad someone is with me. i keep thinking this is it and then it stops! only 37 weeks aswell so could have ages to go yet!
dd was born at 37+4 (which is what i will be on sat) so feel as though something should be happening now bcos this baby should come same time...wishful thinking!)

At least you have set a precedent with No.1. My first hung on to 43+1 (I actually couldn't walk baby was so low, which was why I had an induction). DD2 was bang on time (40+3). I really don't want to go too far over as I am a VBAC girl and pressure to have a elective or even an induction is something I could do without. Anyway, got a few things planned this week so this baby can stay right where it is for the mo'

Was convinced was all going to happen tonight, but the feeling has passed so I am going to bed.

Might try a bath with lavender oil tomorrow evening and see if my cervix has moved forward a bit, baby is certainly very low. Midwife has also mentioned putting oil of evening primrose capsules into vagina at bed time - worth a try do you think?

Let us know how you get on.

motherofsnort - when I was getting desperate to get my last baby out I used evening primrose oil capsules, and I am convinced it is what helped soften the cervix enough for the baby to come out (and no tearing!). I had be having measurable contractions for weeks, been in and out of hosptial for prem labour, but it did not happen until after the EPO, could have been coincidence, but I don't think so. Definitely worth trying, I took 4 tablets orally and 1 internally.

smilelyhappy - do try the EPO as motherofsnort suggested!
