Does an induction always finish by a cs?

Hi,

I'm due to be induced at 38 weeks for health reasons and after reading many posts, I'm starting to worry (actually be scared) that inductions always end up by CS.

Is there anybody who had an induction followed by a successful VBAC?

Many thanks for your stories

I was told in NCT antenatal classes that there is an increased risk of intervention with induced births because if you have the synotocin drip your contractions are more intense so you're more likely to want an epidural and therefore more likely to need a forceps or venteuse delivery.

But it seems many have the drip without the epidural.

I was induced over days and ended up with a section, but only because they did fetal blood sampling and said he was right on the borderline for needing a section and I went for it rather than wait for it to become urgent.

I didn't mind my cs at all, it was fine and in my case recovery was very quick.

Good luck!

I was induced at 36 weeks, all went fairly quickly and smootly, no CS needed. (despite everyone telling me it was bound to be a very long labour being induced that early with first baby!)

Induction here and totally normal, if speedy birth! Four hours for a first baby is not bad, I'm told. Had three lots of prostin gel but no drip and no epidural, not sure if that makes a difference?

No not at all.

My sister was induced both times, neither time was a CS. She had a very positive induction experience actually and asked to be induced the 2nd time IIRC.

I had a CS with DS 1 following induction as I was +13 days, but only because they realised he was breech, and in those days - just 3 years ago, that panicked my Unit!

I had another induction with DS2, at 40w + 5d, because I determined to avoid a CS - I wanted it, to do my VBAC and in my head I thought the smaller he was the better for me!

Go for it, induction does not = CS

Keep us posted x

3 inductions, 3 epidurals and no CS here.

Sorry, I just notice that I've put VBAC it should be VB as it's my first! Baby brain here I am!!

Many thanks for all those "good" stories, they're putting my mind at rest.

One induction (my 3rd baby) at 38 weeks, pessary only, super fast delivery, no problems.

Good luck!

FWIW DS2 born in February was a natural birth - came just over a week early, really fast labour and lovely waterbirth... so being induced once doesnt necessarily mean you have to be induced for later births....

I was induced, no CS, no instruments!
